Ghost Touch screen replacement at dealer - anyone get charged?

:
2014 & 2019 CX-5 Touring(s)
Went to get an oil change today and told the service guy that we had the ghost touch issue and I showed him the class action card we got. He said that was no problem and they'd done a bunch already, but that Mazda wanted to charge a $50-100 co-charge. I thought the whole point was that this was free? Anyone get there's changed under the warranty extension deal and did you get a charge for it? If so, how much?

It's going in next week, so I want to be armed in advance. Thanks

I took mine in to Mazda to get the ghost touch looked at. So the deal appears to be if it is not a CMU or software update issue, it is not covered under the Class action. At first they wanted to charge a $244 diagnostic fee, then when the DTC codes came back as a bad display, they quoted an outrageous amount of money. ($1700). So I lucked out in having an extended warranty that will cover this, but be warned all. The wording that was used in the class action benefits Mazda.

Just to follow up on this. I went back to the dealer and got the screen replaced - supposedly under the class action warranty. They did charge me $75, but I didn't think it was worth arguing.

Just FYI, this was what they wrote on the ticket. Nothing about class action or warranty, just a "Goodwill" swap. Hmmm...

Thanks for the information!

(My wife and I are considering the purchase of a '25 GX-trim, so we are interested in how Mazda treats current CX-5 owners on all issues that might arise.)

Sounds like a decent dealer. This is one of the advantages of using a dealer, they replaced it with minimum hassle but they're probably getting reimbursed by Mazda. Could of been alot worse, them refusing and you wasting valuable time fighting with Mazda corporate then the dealer. $75 seems like a small price to pay although I'm sure some on this forum will chime in with the opposite.

This is a new trend I’m noticing. Small fees or “deductibles” for settlement/extended warranty coverage. I think I remember seeing similar $500 “deductibles” for people who needed to get their high voltage hybrid harness replaced on RAV4s despite that language not being spelled out anywhere.

Odd outcome but very good imo. $75 isn’t bad at all considering the hour it takes to replace the screen and the two hours I’ve wasted trying to get parts money back from the settlement 😄

There just aren't that many issues with Mazdas generally, at least in my experience having been through 9 of them since 2009 with two still in the fleet.
Don't overthink that aspect.
If you want a brand new '25 CX-5 before the new 2026 design's digital cockpit (no buttons or switches, controls embedded in main screen) version becomes your only option, buy soon.
