Futures have the gas up another .20 cents by midweek.

All our oil supply from the Gulf are stopped. So far, we are short a million barrells of oil because of the hurricane. We get 1/3 of our oil from the Gulf....so now think about this, whats gonna happen when we realize all those oil stations are ****** up/destroyed by the 'cane?

booo! *going to fill up*

Interesting sig pic. Were there some wildfires in the AZ mountains lately?

I think half the price increase at the pump will be due to crude oil prices. The other half will be from jackass gas station owners gouging because they realize they can do it and blame it on a natural disaster.

Remember the day after september 11th? All my friends said they were going to fill up on the afternoon/evening of 9-11 because they were worried about prices. I told them to wait because oil prices are highly inelastic - they can fluctuate quickly. I saw lines going for blocks at many stations that night. The next day, I think the highest I saw was $8 a gallon. Then Gov'nor Ryan of IL said any case of gouging gas prices would be a $20,000 fine. Most stations immediately reduced prices back. A couple days later, on the 13th, I think gas prices were maybe $.05 higher than before the 11th.

The moral of the story is - don't fill up on the first day. If you can, wait a few days.

That said, I'm glad as hell I decided to fill up on Friday last week (cheers2)
