Geico

So i switched my insurance from Nationwide to Geico. I will be saving $1000 a year(will be going to mods). I only heard good things about their service and that they are mostly trouble free. I was originally going to go with Progressive (same quote amt) but geico had superior review.

Anybody had any trouble with them?
Also, am i the only one who was getting ripped off by overpriced Nationwide?

I had geico for 7 year and I save so much money that I bought 3 new mazda in that time, and they are great.

I've had Geico for 6 years...since I bought the P5...had 2 major claims...both not my fault...total of like $7,000.00 in cosmetic repairs....and 2-3 tickets...one was 24mph over...OUCH!!!...and my rates have stayed the same for just about forever....I would recommend them...as long as you are close to an adjuster...

BTW...after like 3-4 years without any tickets, I guess I was put in the "safe" driver club..so my rate doesnt' increase with tickets and such...so my 84 in a 60 didn't affect my insurance at all...

I would have lost a ton of money switching to geico. I've had AAA since I started driving at 16. When I got the new car, I took a look at AAA, Progressive, Geico... and perhaps one other I can't remember. Anyway, AAA was by far the cheapest quote, I'm assuming because they know my record (I have a "good driver discount"). I don't remember exact numbers, but the non-AAA ones wanted like 3 times the amount AAA wanted. So I stuck with AAA.

Do your homework and get quotes from a number of places.

Well, I'm an adjuster for one of the forementioned companies, and I hate dealing with nationwide. They're slow and according to the shops, they don't want to pay for anything, which means bad results for you, the customer. Progressive and Geico have both built their most recent business model around their claims service and I know empolyees at both Geico and Prog are for the most part, happy.

In terms of rates however, what may be cheaper for you, may not be cheaper for me. Not quite sure how that works, but I have to say, when it comes to car insurance, you get what you pay for.

I'm actually switching from Geico. I've had them about 8 years with no issues but the new quote I got from them with the MS3 is almost double the quotes I got from everyone else. Clean driving record no claims ever with them, oh well.

Geico quoted me $5000/year on my 2005 STi. I was 28 y/o at the time and had one accident, but no other violations on my record what so ever. Progressive's quote: $1500/year. Not cheap but smoked Geico in this instance by a long-shot!

Well I actually just purchased a policy with geico for my 08' Speed3. After shopping around they had the best qoute by approximately $700 less a year.

You should also check out Esurance. When shopping for insurance when I got my Speed3, they were nearly 1/2 the price of everyone else, including Geico. They didn't have the Speed3 as an option on their website, so I called to see what the deal was. Turns out they treat the '07 Speed3 as an '06 Mazda 3 hatchback for their insurance rates. (rockon)

hmmm...

I'm not sure why insurance rates are so inconsistant from one person to the next, but I've got USAA, another great insurance co, and they're significantly cheaper than Geico, which is odd, because I'm in the military and also a federal civilian employee and I thought that was Geico's bread and butter.

(2thumbs)(first)(rockon)I have had them for over 10 years and have had no problems what so ever. They always pay out no matter what happens
