'02 MAZDA PROTEGE ES-RMT
Well, I have installed a rear mounted turbo on my 02 protege es. with the stock computer it would try to shut the engine down at like 2 psi. So i got a msp ecu for a fuel management bu the problem is now that i have the msp ecu, the car is trying to shut down on me at 4500 rpm as soon as it hits boost. I have checked all my fittings and everything. There are no leaks that i can find. it is running very rich so i know i am geting enough fuel. But i cant seem to find the problem. If anyone has any ideas please help. I really apreciate it. Thanks

I have also attatched some pis of my set up.

woah...i've never even seen this done on a protege before. but yes I think it is the fuel cut-off. I'd say try to get the fuel cut defenser or a new management

Where would i go about getting a fuel cut defenser and what exactly does it do because the last thing i wanna do is blow the engine.

ehoa whoa whoa whoa whoa ait a minute!!! WTF is that? a rear mounted turbo? never heard of a thing? how the hells it working if its all they way back in the muffler section??>?????? u got any more pics and vid clips?

It runs great if i could stop that fuel cut off. It sounds crazy too becuase its right there at the end. I got the idea from ststurbo.com and i made my own setup. It is basicly the same as putting it in the engine bay except you dont need an exhaust manifold or an intercooler.

thats waht a lot of people say but its not true. A lot of people are afraid to try it because they have heard that but the truth is it doesnt have much lag at all. Its really quick. Also i used a small turbo for a faster spool up. Its a k03 off a 1.8 audi or vw.

so no problems with that intake sitting in the open there...aka water...and such..plus hitting bumps..it looks like it's in good condition.

No. no problems with the intake. It usually stays dry when it rains and it hasn't hit anything yet lol. I am gonna make a water sheild for it eventually. I just have to be careful because i cant go through deep puddles ya know? hey ill pm you back with all the details tengoestetempo.

Hey no prblem. I hope i can help. also if you want to see some more stuff about rear mounted turbos and where i got the idea check out www.ststurbo.com They make the kits for camaros and corvettes. thats where i got the idea from.

One of the thing s that made me do it was the fact taht i have never heard of it being done on a protege and i wanted to be the first to do it. And it worked so if you have any questions let me know.

i saw an interview with a guy that had it on his z06 corvette and only complained of some turbo lag

i was reading on the website and noticed that they say a basic setup gets you only about 5 psi but you can tune up to 20....how much are you planning to boost normally?
