FSDE 323 Swap

im interested in videos.

I fail to see why the FE3 head cannot hold high rpms? the valve train can be upgraded.

ross have you measured the fe3 ports??

"The DOHC head is the real centerpiece of this motor. It's design is almost identical to the DOHC 'B' heads except for everthing being larger. The ports are much larger than 1.8 and the valves are also larger than the 1.8. The stock FE3 head flows 234 cfm intake and 194 cfm exhaust at 28 inches water (for comparison a 1.6 head is about 170'ish intake and a 1.8 head is about 210'ish intake). The factory redline is 7000 rpm with a 7300 fuel cutoff (same as the Miata)"

What i wanna know from the guys making 600+hp is : how the hell do u get traction ???? im not making near that yet but cant get the power to the ground

hehe

One at a time:

The FE3 head in stock form cannot handle over 7200rpms for long, just upgrade it and done.

The 600whp FSDE videos: Run1 , Run2

The FE3 powered MX3 vids: Dyno and track

Ah yes, I know that site well....

Slight changes.... (got a 2003 protege, sold the 323)

Although the swap goes-in like stock...no custom fabrication needed for the supports.

Hardest thing is like: installing a slave pump, hoses, new exhaust, etc.

lol slight change eh?

I might be playing around with this swap in a few weeks. I've got a '94 Protege and FS-DE/tranny. I was going to rebuild the BP in the Protege, but if the swap is as easy as it looks...then a standalone on top of that...135-140whp shouldn't be too shabby in a 1st Gen.

why not just build a bp-t? You'd have a boost ready package.

I want to stay in SCCA Street Prepared class and the BP in the 1st Gen is already blown up. I could either spend $$$ to rebuild it and set it up for Street Prepared rules or just drop my already built to spec FS-DE in.

neither would be very reliable @ 600hp. the BP would toss headgaskets & the FS would probalby have bottom end issues. get a FE3 & be done with it :P
