I would try replacing it and see what happens
I've actually spun the engine by hand (wrench) with the valve cover off to see if the cam I and E marks line up at some point. They do, but I can't confirm that it's at TDC; I don't have power tools or means to get crank pulley off and mainly back on...
There's timing marks on the plastic cover and crank pulley too. (at least there is on the stock engine)
