FS-DE Oil System

My MSP is stock so you can use it as a baseline. Cold start is 65-75psi; 20psi @ idle when warm (12psi if it is hot or has been run hard.) I run Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30 with a K&N filter for th 626 V6. I am using an Autometer Ultralite mechanical gauge teed off of the stock oil pressure sensor. My car has 57k mi, ran Mobil 1 5w30 since 5k mi and has run Pennzoil Plat for the last 7k mi.

Thanks! so your's does not go over 75psi even when below freezing?

Not that I have seen. It was below freezing a few times before I left and I didn't notice it ever above 70-75psi

I get about ~80psi = cold starts and ~85psi = sub zero temps, have Greddy Oil Pressure V2 electronic gauge(installed at the stock oil pressure location, stock oil pressure is not installed in the block anymore) and it goes down to 30-32psi once its warmed up, on hot summer days i've seen 28psi but very rare, cruise on summer is about 60 psi on 70mph.
Use M1 Synthetic 10W30 summer and 5W30 winter, will change to HM next oil change since I'm going over 75K miles.

Now that I keep the car in the garage, it only jumps above 100psi for 30 sec or so, then starts it fall. When the car is up to operating temp, the pressure is around 20-22psi (at idle) and after being driven, the pressure is around 12psi at idle.

The pressure is always more than 10psi per 1000 rpm, which is what i understood to be the safe area.

I have 950 miles on the new engine and all is well. Just switched over to semi-synthetic oil, from the break-in oil.

That is exactly what my car does.

Just wanted to update this thread, have about 2200 miles on the new engine. The oil pump and external PRV are working great! Took the car up to the dragon last week and the oil pressure always stayed above 10psi per 1000rpms, no matter how i drove it. Thanks again Tom!

Good to hear!

I'm about to install my pump tomorrow. Any tips or pointers from others that have completed the job?

Yes! Very much so....have a few in the shop underway currently. PM me and I can give you further details

I will be in touch soon! Planning on making a lot of trips to the big mountains around here in the summer. On numerous occasions Iv been hitting corners at high speed and it spits smoke. FSDE FTL! I need this, not trying to blow up a NA motor.

I wanted to get a recap on how to initially setup the pump. What kind of grease can I pack it with on assembly? Where should my pressure regulator be set for first start up?

He packed it with vasol*** and the prv should be half way. Cold start is 65-75psi; 20psi @ idle when warm (12psi if it is hot or has been run hard.)

My oil pressure is about 20 psi at idle when hot and ran hard and around 6500 its at 100 psi and increasing.

I used stp oil treatment in my pump since I used it for my assembly lube anyways

I did the vaseline packing and it pumped up pressure right off the bat. I left the PRV at the setting it came from the factory at and it was a little high of the get go. I adjusted the screw outward so now I am at about 12-15psi at temp at idle and 65-70 at WOT high RPM. I get about 60psi on cold starts but the temps haven't been near freezing in my garage for quite some time.

After reading I'm a little relieved now. Hot idle on my system with the regulator cranked up high is only about 12psi. That's on a brand new engine. I would have liked it a bit higher, and I thought something was wrong with my system, but I guess not. Would switching to slightly smaller -8AN lines not increase pressure? My mechanical gauge under the hood right at the filter reads about 15psi higher than the in car taken from the block.
