Forged rods?

Juan I agree with Wicked, when I am taking all of this apart I want to replace it all, the extra few dollars for the bearings and bolts is just something to stick into the back of your brain that its all new and you dont have to worry about it failing. I agree that the parts are probably fine but for the extra piece of mind I dont mind paying extra for it :)

That is ok, I will check with Mazda to get a quote on those parts. That could be something extra for the guys who want it. It is not a big deal. The important thing is to have the hatd to get parts in stock like the Rods and the special pistons.

Agreed. Having rods IN STOCK is a Godsend. It's a lot better than waiting a month or two for rods, especially when your car is down in the process. I'd glady pay a little more to a vendor who had rods/pistons in stock rather than wait forever and not drive my car if I blew a motor.

Ditto.

Fully agreed, Juan any chance that you will sell the Oliver billet rods? those are the ones that I am targeting but waiting all the time is going to suck.

Oliver rods are built per-job for our cars, I believe, and can be ordered directly from Oliver (based in Grand Rapids, MI). Their website is http://www.oliver-rods.com/

I understand that Spooled, but if Juan had a couple sets in stock I would rather just buy them from him than wait the long wait from Oliver.

I won't be getting mine until I get a decent job, or one that will pay for my expensive habit of buying s*** for my car.

I am new to this as well....could i just get a set of rods and throw them in? or do i ahve to get the whole package..i would rarther get rods now and do the rest later..less risk of a blown engine

You need to get the set of rods and pistons at least. The stock pistons are press fitted in the stock rods and the Pauter are floating rods so we need to work the stock piston to work along with these rods. Then you can just get the pistons and rods and throw them in.

any machining needed to install your piston/rod set?

Oliver Rods are the best rod on the market. We brought Oliver rods to the Mazda market.Currently they are making 2 lenghts for us.
5.315 and 5.4.

If you are looking for Oliver rods, we have a few 5.315's in stock.

just FYI 5.315 is the stock size... 5.4 is a longer rod and requires pistons made for them.

there is a benefit to this as it increases dwell time at TDC, and increases the leverage the rod has.... if you need more of an explaination than that then search for it, or google.... I gotta go to work

I assume if the engine was left in, everything would go in by taking the oil pan off? I've always wondered if that would be an easier way to do it.

what about rings?price?or are we supposed to use our factory?

just wondering, but can our block handle.20 over?
a little extra goes along way.
