people blow on stock tune

When they're fully stock or with boltons? Not that I've read much about the MS3 at all, but I haven't heard of anyone blowing while all stock, but obviously if they're pretty bolted on a stock tune, yeah, it's going to be running lean and making lots of power.. for a while, just like the MSP.

the msp and ms3 motor are nothing alike in terms of holding power...

the tune (or lack thereof) is what makes the ms3 go pop most of the time, ive seen a well tuned ms3 hold 400+whp on stock internals, it can hold power and doesnt pop unless you mod/drive/maintain the car like a jackass.... in stark comparison, i know of 2 solidly built and well tuned msp's both around 200-220whp that popped... the internals in the msp just arent as strong as they should have been, totally different issue than an ms3

that being said, back to Ivan

you should trade the stockers you have to Ryan (zoomdoom) for his OZ's, he is offering s stupid deal right now cause he doesnt want to see them get traded in with the car

Clearly. That's not the point I was making. Lots of breathing enhancing mods on a turbo will make lots of power on the stock tune if the ECU allows itself to be leaned way out, and that's where the issues arise. Obviously it will be at a different hp level between the two motors because they're nothing alike.

last saturday i watched a speed3 hit 494whp uncorrected on the rollers @25psi on a 6262

stock cams
stock head
stock pistons
stock rods
stock fuel injectors

he ended up running out of fuel @ 6600rpm, 800 short of his redline

tune is everything. and hes on an AP

You're up next, budday!

So another quick update with pics to follow after work. I got the car undercoated as well as the front fender wells. Josh helped me out quite a bit and we also used the interior seam rust proofing stuff that he bought on some of the front and the engine bay. I have to find time in the next couple of weeks to get the inside of the rear quarter panels really well because I'm most worried about those. I will probably hold off on doing the insides of the doors for now. I will make sure to wash the car whenever possible during the winter so I need to find a touchless car wash that I can utilize.

RallyArmor UR mudflaps were also installed and they look great and I think will do a great job during the winter. The install was fairly easy and everything was provided with the exception of a couple of clips that were the wrong ones.

The car budget is on hold this month but over the next few months I have a plan of mods. CP-e just released their new rear mount design and it looks phenomenal. I will definitely be buying it.

I love this car.

I try to hand wash my car, but I normally don't even have the time to do that. I normally go to Splash'n Dash Car Wash in Uniontown. It's on Massillon road right off 77, although it might be a little out of the way for you. But....it's touchless and does a really good job. It's the only touchless car wash I know of and the only place I go to lol.

Despite the fact that there is a link in your sig I don't think I'm subbed to this!

Are you still using the JBR shift knob? How do you like it? I can't decide between that one or the TWM Type R/Big Type R.

I have the TWM Type-R and I really like it a lot. But I have little hands. haha

Yep, I'm still using the JBR shift knob. I love it. The car should have come with it. It does have a "sharp" edge that some people complain about so maybe one day you can swing by the house and check out the difference between Evan's and mine.

I have the TWM Big Type-R and I LOVE it. I tried Evan's regular Type-R and it was just way too small for my hands. The Big version is a perfect fit for my hands and really improved shifting. I couldn't believe a heavier shift knob would ever make such a large improvement. Idk why Mazda didn't put a heavier shift knob in the car to begin with lol

LMAO! Not like that! We're not Miata owners!

I have a Miata... (eek2)

I always thought that it was a gimmick. But over the summer I tried the OE MS3 shift knob (which is weighted a little) in my Miata which has a crappy eBay knob and it did make a big difference. So now I'm in the market for two new ones :D

Well it's been a little while and there are some updates. I caved in and bought Ryan's (zoomdoom) Hypertech. The car is completely different. The tune is perfect to me.

On another note, I've had issues in the rain with the car where it would get squirrely at highway speeds. I found out why on Saturday morning when I took my wheels off. The car was out of alignment and the front driver's side tire was down to the belts on the inside. Evan was kind enough to give up his alignment appointment at the local tire shop and after putting on the winter wheels, I drove over and got it aligned. I was planning on buying new tires for the 2nd gens anyway since they were balding. After some preliminary research, I am really liking the General G-MAX AS-03's. I had Generals on my P5 and liked them and the tests and reviews on these specific ones are great. The price and tread wear ratings are exactly what I'm looking for the daily drive. Considering the fact that I've driven almost 18,000 miles in 5 months, I need something that won't wear quickly but will still be fun.

I also washed, waxed, and back-to-blacked the exterior of the car. I cleaned the door jambs and everything. The car looks great, feels great and is just great haha.

I will take pictures tomorrow to show the carnage of the 2nd gen's tires, the car with winter wheels and tires, and the alignment sheets.
