Fishdonotbounce's 2008.5 CWP Speed3 GT "Build" Thread

I like mesh wheels on our car. If you don't want to go baller status, I also like the enkei EKM3's. A very similar look and available in hypersilver for cheaper!

Hmmm... I think they are a little too busy looking. I like Shamu because the lines are so clean and not cluttered. The BBS wheels look really busy. But I approve of buying moar wheelz. :)

Totally.

If you have to go with mesh, do like this:

Haha if you're interested Nate, let me know. I only have like 4 months before the non-winter wheels go on haha

just dreams, wheels are way down on the list of things I want behind wedding, honeymoon, house, things for said house and diapers.

Installed my new shift knob today. Got tired of the look of the JBR and have been digging spherical knobs. Gotta put some electrical tape at the top of the shifter to keep the boot up. The picture is crappy due to it being dark. Better picture coming soon.

I'm curious to hear how it feels since it's not weighted and your other one was 15lbs.

Haha he was exaggerating a lot. It does weigh 1.43 lbs though. It's one of the heaviest knobs out there.

Evan and I just went to Wendy's cause we were hungry and I wanted to see how the knob felt and it felt great. Shifting feels a lot more natural to me. Weighted knobs definitely help get the shifter to fall into gear but you end up putting more effort into moving the shifter. I think this works very well for me. I'll keep the JBR around though.

Sorry, Larry. Forgot the magenta font...

What Ivan was saying does make sense. Since it's lighter it should be easier to shift. But I wonder if quick shifts would be better suited with a weighted knob?

Decided to swap the cabin air filter yesterday in 26 degree weather. I used the youtube how to that someone from another forum made up and I have to say it was the best how-to I've seen in a long time. The process is fairly easy but I have no idea why Mazda made it so hard to swap these. In the video, the guy has around 40k miles on his and he pulls them out to have globs of dirt and leaves and everything just jam packed in there. I was expecting the same but when I pulled my filters out, they looked fairly new. I decided to still swap in the new ones while I was doing it since I splurged and went for the more expensive one that filters smells too. RockAuto ftw.

I also put a bit of electrical tape over the shifter and slid the boot up over it to keep the boot up. The knob is exactly what I wanted and after driving with it for a couple days, I like it a lot better than the weighted shift knob.

Out with the old:

I decided to sell my track wheels to my roommate (Lewis7789) The 17x7 +48 will work much better on his P5. I will be using the money to purchase a new set of wheels which will be my new summer setup. I will be putting the 2nd gen wheels up for sale as well as soon as I can get some good pics of them. They are freaking flawless. As far as the new wheels go, all I'll say for now is that they are 18x8 +47 and I have not found a single MS3 or even Mazda that has them.

Thanks again for the great deal on your Rays, buddy. Now if you could only make up your mind on what new wheels you want to buy... ;)

I've made up my mind. :D

Those second gen wheels were what made your car, IMO.

Thanks Wes but I got bored of them quickly and am going to move on to something else. They look great on there but they were not my choice and it's one of the things I want to change on the car.

Hahaha they actually are sort of cheap replicas but the offset is actually -15, not 0 :D

But I already said they will be 18x8 +47. I'll show what they are once I buy them and they come in.

Will we even be able to see them? I mean they're +47, maybe we'll need to shine a flashlight into the wheel well? :D
