First new 2010 seen on the street...

Chill man... this is a forum. People are entitled to their own opinions. I, for one, don't like the new style of MS3 and I think that bright, vibrant blue has no place on a car. However, I do believe that the 07-09 style of MS3 is a little dated but still very good looking (reminds me of 04 STIs in that respect).

What you have to remember is that people are entitled to their opinion and will post whatever they feel like posting. Don't get your panties in a bundle about it. Hell, I've been flamed before for some stupid stuff I had posted or done, but you just have to realize that everyone has different viewpoints. Fin.

actually...it does have a place on a car. It's called the 2010 Honda Insight. that color is identical to the one that honda just put out. and they're both ugly as ****.

when I first seen the color on here I thought it was much deeper. Then I seen it in person. It's not horrible, it's just a girl color.

Speaking of women, mine was watching me doodle in mspaint with my advanced and highly skilled drawing techniques...she says, not only does the new 3 look like it's smiling, but it looks like a girl face....then she precedes to outdo my fancy artwork with this....

Keep in mind, she just test drove the black one the other day, loved driving it, but has now decided....not getting it.

i dont like that thing that looks like it hit a clam and the shell stayed stuck on the front bumper. and it kinda looks like the newer wrx/STI's. all in all...all the newer cars are all ugly...this one not too bad except like i said...the clam shell...painted black lol.

I get what your saying completely. Actually reminded me of a certain type of whale. I was trying to find a picture of one on google to show it.

I think this is the front end that should be on the Speed 3. Someone posted this with the front end on there, I took it and shopped in some more stuff.

nice job, but for those of us that don't use front plates, the car will still be too happy for my liking.

You guys are crazy! The 2010 is absolutely better looking than the 1st gen. They are a little slower 0-60 just so the motor mounts do not break then 3-4th gear have more power.

The hood scoop alone makes it a better looking car.

yes hood scoop is nice. agreed, but i think if an 2009 STI and a MS3 had a baby...this is wat it would look like...except wit a clam shell. lol.

you guys do know that the grille was not made as such just to be a statement of "look at me, i'm smiling like a dum dum", right? it's functional. that makes it right out of the box different in more ways than 1 than 1st gen. every curve and oddly slotted plastic contour has a job in the front to either suck in air or deflect it. could they have shaped it differently...sure. they also could have dropped a smaller cubic inch v6 in there and made it RWD. but they didn't.

bottom line: love it or hate it...it's here to stay for at least a few years. i'm just glad they still make it :)

The grill on the 1st gen is functional too. Pop the hood and you'll see pieces that redirect the air to where it's needed.

Everyone has their opinions about how this new car looks. There is no right or wrong answer, just opinions. Let's keep them at that. We all know that noone can please everyone equally.

Uggh

yeah that is really good photo choppin my skillz r limited to color changes, tint, lowering, and custom made parts lol

So far nothing I've seen in this thread that's been photo-chopped betters tha Mazda design. And plus one for those who point out the reasons for the front grille design. FYI the 07-09's intake design was apparently too restrictive, which is why they went to a traditional scoop.

So, I got bored and decided to mess with the front grill a bit. It's nothing radical, but I tried to square it up a bit and make it less "smiley" and more like the first gen ones. I still ******* hate the blue though.

LOL nice .... but now it looks like it is screaming (omg) AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!

for the record, I love the hood scoop. No issue there. Should help with heat soak too which was a real issue. Car side profile, also like that too. Back on is not even bad ,but the tails need to be darkened.

I just want a new grill. Back with the original MSP they changed the front bumper a bit on the .5 refresh, I'm hoping to see the same happen here because if there ever was a time they needed too...

as for the "functional" aspect of the front grill...sorry, but I'm not buying it, at least not completely. Regardless, a little better engineering and all of this could have been avoided.

My Bad My Bad

So are you an engineer?

I'm curious, and I'm not trying to be a wise-ass, but you seem certain that the grille isn't "functional". What makes you so sure? And why would Mazda lie about something like this? I've driven the 10 twice now and one thing is for certain it defintely behves better than the 07-09. Power delivery is much smoother and it pulls better at higher speed.

What's funny is that I think the grille will be considered classic in teh coming years.

Whatsmore the more I see the 2010 the more my 08 seems dated and kinda pudgy. But to each his own. I just wish some people weren't so rude about the whole thing. Some of you are just nasty and theres no reason for it.

I agree that the new 3 makes the 1st gen seem outdated. I was actually talking about this with one of my managers, who happens to be a service manager at Mazda. Looking at a 2010 3, sitting beside a customers 1st gen 3, the old one does look outdated. I think the new styling does keep up with the new styling we are seeing from alot of new cars.

Even though there are alot of people that question the smiley, there are tons in town already. There are alot of people that can look past that and realize it's a pretty damn good car for what you pay. I've driven alot of cars that can be compared in one way or another. Corolla, Matrix, Versa, Sentra, Focus, Caliber, and I can honestly say the 3 feels the best on the road, it's the easiest to drive, and best interior in terms of quality and layout. The 3 has definately built a good reputation in 6 years.
