FD's on Proteges Club

$550 for just rims, then price of tires is SUPER high for FD rims...I can pick a set up with tires for $300 locally...

225/45 or 50/16 is really not expensive compared to 215/45/17 or 215/40/18

then theres the 8 bucks a tire I paid... HAHA! (yeah, I had to rub it in)

It's actually $520. And personally, for 4 wide, lightweight wheels that are basically brand new, from a wheel that's hard to come by, not even made anymore, that's a great deal.

Not to mention that if you find a set with tires, most likely they won't fit on the Protege anyways.

Actually the factory FD tire size is THE ideal MSP sized tire. I know you hatch guys have less rear clearance, and all the non-MSP/MP3 guys would prefer a shorter tire, but it will fit.

IDK, I just don't understand paying 2.5-3x the price after all is said and done to have new ones when you could of gotten them for the same price used...but that is just me...

I can see where matt is coming from. He got a ROUGH used set. Other than some rash on one, mine were nearly mint, so the $250 I paid was well worth it.

^A set just sold yesterday on ebay for $322 shipped. They looked to be in decent shape. I wanted to bid but restrained myself, lol.

This was actually the 3rd or 4th set I had found, and coming from a local MSP I figured I would have nothing to worry about, but like I said, he never got a chance to mount them to confirm their condition. Only the one wheel is bad.

I'm willing to pay a somewhat premium price for basically new wheels though, you'd have to see the finish this new wheel has in person to really appreciate it.

When I get the other news ones I'll throw up the set I have for cheap, like $250 shipped.

BTW, I took some shots for comparison between the reinforced and non-reinforced FD's.
