Fatti03msp's Build Thread

Funkalicious is right, look into it more, it was proven that low temp thermostats hurt performance and stock 195 is best.

There was a thread a few months ago where someone used a Failsafe thermostat that ended up being no good at all because it locks open. It is probably something that works the best with a good radiator (i.e. AWR, Mishimoto, Ron Davis)

Really had no luck in trying to find a low temp thermostat though.

Search for a Stant 170 degree Protege thermostat ;)

Stant Carded 35047

^ thats for the 170* stant? I beileve you will be ok running a 170* thermostat. Although from what i hear nothing is better than the Mazdaspeed 170* version. (of course impossible to find. lol)

ya i didnt even waste my time trying to find that one

but the part numbers i listed are for the 170 degree thermostat, hoping that they have it in stock or can order it.

Ill find out tomorrow.

Since you are running a standalone (I think) then yeah the 170 would work I suppose. On a stock tune/ECU the lower temp thermostat makes it run even more rich.

stock ecu with splitsecond

i honestly dont see how its going to make you run richer by dropping it 10 degrees, i searched around and found nothing.

was going to get the thermostat today but its been raining all do day and im lazy haha

The car wouldnt run any differently with the colder thermostat. It opens at 170 allowing coolant to reach the radiator, and IDK about you, but my car never see's below 170 unless im just starting it up. Once the car warms up, its pretty much always going to stay above 170...

ya im with you on it having no affect on the performance, not sure what they read or heard

my car seems to be running hotter after i installed the 505, but it could be the combination of needing a thermostat and my higher idle of 1k

also my EGT used to read 600 at idle now its reading 800

Nice sig pic. I can't find it now but there were a couple threads from theMAN posted after he installed the Mazdaspeed low temp thermostat saying it hurt his performance by preventing the car from going into open loop and made it run even more rich. Install the 170 and see if it runs better or worse. At least the SS will help lean it out. And the stock thermostat is 195 so you're dropping 25 degrees not 10.

thanks saw the picture on some random forum and couldnt resist not using the sig haha

all the thermostats i found where saying 180 not 195, thats why i was saying 10.

Went to get it today and they had to order it, called them yesterday and they said they had it.

so swapped in the 170 degree thermostat finally and it still overheats at idle

but it def. slowed down the process of it over heating so it helped a lil

AFR and EGTS are all reading the same so the thermostat didnt change a thing at all

thanks to scmp3 i did however find out that i have two injectors with bad seals so that is what is cause my high idle

im getting to 1000 degrees at idle but when i starting driving it drops down to 600-800 range.

ran the check engine today as well and had 5 codes haha

P0106 - Sensor Signal out of range
P0507 - Control System RPM higher then expected
P0140 - O2 Sensor HO2S (RR) circuit no activity detected
P2009 - VTS which i have disconnected
P0660 - Actuator Circuit Malfunction

P0140 - O2 Sensor HO2S (RR) circuit no activity detected
for this one are there different codes for upstream and downstream?

going to look into the part number for the injector rings but if for some reason has it off hand let me know.

s***.....im hoping i got the right thing now. i thought it was a o-ring

went to advanced auto and it was 96 bucks for 4 complete injector seals. Had 3 seals in it. Each injector kit was 4 dollars and the rest of the cost is shipping

So freaking 80 dollars in shipping, tell me that isnt some ******* BS
