a leak means the boost pressure which is supposed to open the WGA doesn't... so the wastegate stays closed too long... thus, overboost. so, a leaky wga and underboost sounds like theres something else going on. what exactly... I have no idea. Maybe the wastegate is stuck open?

thats wrong it can under boost when its broken, cuz it even happened to me. cuz when the wastegate breaks it can either break open or closed.

I'm talking about the actuator, not the wastegate itself.

the actuators fail by the diaphram leaking. a spring holds it closed, so unless the failure is outside the WGA, theres no real way for a WGA to cause and underboost condition. wastegates have been known to move the flap down, which forces them to stay open, causing underboost, but that failure is 100% seperate from the actuator.

there are plenty of people that rip the diaphram on the wga while the wastegate is open and since its ripped it wouldnt be able to close to hold boost cuz air is just leaking out so that makes it run lower boost

the diaphram is what OPENS the wastegate... rip that diaphram, and you OVER boost. not under, this is what I said to begin with. regardless of when the diaphram rips, unless you were able to lodge a piece of rubber in such a way that it would hold back a spring that is fairly stiff (the spring itself is about 18 lbs/in, as the surface area inside is larger than one square inch). I just don't see that happening.

noooooooooo you CAN underboost the diaphram holds a curtain amount of pressure to let the rod push open the wastegate so if its in the middle of opening and its ripped then it wont close completely

im in the same boat - i thought if you do a blow test and are able to blow through it, then you under-boost... but your explanation makes more sense carl. is it possible that some people get spring failure? if ___ manufacturer uses an all-purpose steel spring i wouldnt be surprised if it rusted out.

changed a few things up with in this past week

installed a slim fan finally and finally got a filter only intake setup.

also though i was looking at my wiring and thinking of doing a small wire tuck and i noticed this extra wire coming off my cam position wires. Not sure what it is. Could it be a ground that broke?

also have new drilled rotors and AXXIS pads on the way

ouch!!! that is definitely a problem.

btw be careful when boosting in the rain. it tends to **** up my maf from time to time as water vapor makes it into the engine :(

ya i have no clue what that wire is

but thanks for the heads up with the water, i do have one of those pre filters that im going to keep in the car.

Keith put it on his FC and he lost 2psi so that y im not going to keep it on, just have it at hand for when it rains

so i took off 3/4 of my apexiR1 exhaust and WOW, def. can tell i lost some low end, but the spool up and the punch is worth it.

once i get my O2 sensor and cam potion sensor in ill be doing some street tuning and heading to the dyno.

should have a vid of it tonight or tom.

Have u replaced the clutch? I think u mentioned last time that ur dyno was off becuz of a slipping clutch. Looking forward to ur dyno numbers.

its holding, i really think my mechanic got alot of oil on the clutch and that was causing it to slip.

Cause now my car is running ten time better and im back to 13ish psi and its holding, just think it took awhile for all the oil to burn off.
