screw it if it's a re-post.

Simple question; Is the MS3 the fastest fwd in production?

I'm talking about top speed while stock.

it might shock you but I know there is something called GOOGLE, but all they have is mostly older sites.

in all reality, does it really matter?

if you're doing 160, 1) you won't be doing it very long, or 2) you won't have a car when you get caught

enjoy your cell, cause i'll be enjoying your MS3 i bought for pennies at police auction

edit-that was kinda harsh. sorry, just in a bad mood

found this while googling

Dodge SRT tops 156mph
Fiat coupe also tops 156mph

But worryingly, the Vauxhall Vectra VXR tops 161 mph making it the fastest production FWD car.

Cobalt SS is faster but I still would rather own an MS3, speed is only one part of the ownership experience.

What are you talking about... I've topped between 150-155 quite a few times... :D

Though, I no longer seek that much speed due to the fear of having something jump out in front of me...road kill.
Also, its no longer that exciting once you've done it a few times...

A new thrill starts afterwards...the one that pushes you to reach 120 in the least amount of time...while your bank account also tries to reach $0 balance... (lol2)

Sorry kind of (jacked)... (lol2)

when someone said that the stupid cobalt ss is faster, are you referringto TOP SPEED or faster in general?

faster is all relevant

top speed, 0-60, 0-100, 100-0, 60-0, slalom,

i think he meant just straight top speed from the factory

Curiosity got the best of me last friday afternoon and I went and looked at a Cobalt SS Actually, I looked at 3 of them....dark blue, silver and Victory Red.

While I wasn't expecting Lexus levels of fit, finish and materials, that car falls flat on its face when viewed in person. My 2004 Mazda 3i looked like a LS460 in comparison. I'm not going to compare it to my MS6 because they're not in the same class.

Everything about the car (with the exception of the wheels, which I like a lot) screams low rent. I knew if I traded my MS6 on it, I'd be miserable after growing weary of the cheap plastics and horrible fabrics. It's a shame that such a good performer has to be packaged like a rental car. I would've liked to have driven it, but I didn't see a point.

BURNED!

im surprised chevy even decided to throw rear disc brakes on there...

could have sworn they woulda gone with drums!

so i most respects, the MS3 would beat the Cobalt SS in basic speed like if you stomped on it at a red light or raced at a 1/4 strip then right? So there would be no need to worry if one tried to challange you on the street then I assume, much would be the same with the srt-4 also correct?

From what I can gather from the performance data, a drag race would be a driver's race between the two cars. To beat one, you better have your launch and your shifts perfect.

cobalt stock for stock is faster then the MS3. Also there after market is already ahead of ours if you can believe it. They have full tunning capabilities with HP tuners software Manifold and big turbo kits already in preproduction with external waste gates and other option. even though its a new motor alot of R&D off the supercharged motor holds true to the DI one.

+1... It is what I keep saying, you still have to drive it. They look horrible driving down the road and the interiors... GM should be ashamed. I would consider the HHR before the Cobalt or even the SRT4. Thankfully I have a MS3 and wont have to consider any noted above.

i had a dream the other night that the new cobalt had a sick body style off the production line and I was so happy i bought one. then i woke up ... and was so glad I had my MS3... true story. then i went back to sleep and had better dreams that were closer to real life like thousands of women throwing themselves at me ... (okay that last part is fake)

coming from a highly modded Cavalier with nitrous and all the goodies on it, the Cobalt SS was a huge upgrade to go off of. But I know the interior is pretty low quality, its more a rental car (as someone said) with a high performance motor. I am just looking down the road to say if someone tried to rev up, not that I street race or anything but was curious if they would be beatable stock for stock. Thos if Cobalt SS owners are like MS3 owners, you will probably never find any stock oens, modding is addictive so I guess I can't underestimate them

well if the cobalt ss/tc is anyhting like the ss/sc.. then we can mod the speed3 to much more power than the cobalt even with the limited suppliers

It's sounding to me like if you catch a bad or inexperienced driver off-guard, you could possibly get a nose up on him. Otherwise you may not want to try your luck.

MS3 owners, just appreciate your car for the better-built machine that it is. At least you don't feel like you're driving around in an Avis rental.

Now I never said I would BUY a Cobalt over a MS3, but the OP asked if the MS3 had the highest TOP SPEED of any production FWD car. The simple answer is no. The first car that popped to mind for me was the Cobalt, because I was just looking at the stats on the shitter.

If they offered an AWD MS3 (Mazdaspeed 3 GTX?), I'd sell my Protege, and buy one. Until then I'll be satisfied with my MSP and MS6.
