fast & furious movies, like/dislike n why

yup, eva mendes surely did it for me - especially when the guy smacks her in the a$$

both movies were off the hook - they make you want to race as soon as you finish watching them

As movies they were good movies but thats all they were movies I mean come on they ruined that skyline by makin it RWD so it would slide out around the corners to give it a better effect and who in their right minds would jump a bridge in any of those cars come on. Oh and the part where they jump onto the boat I just kept sayin come on miss miss I wanna see it miss lol

yeah thats true and it just so happens that the body kits never got messed up

well the s2000 got screwed up bad but ya the skyline that jumped the supra was perfectly fine lol

I enjoyed both from an entertainment stand point. In a lot of ways, even as much as I make fun of them, I think they are kind of over criticised. They are by no means good movies, but they both did a good job of appealing to their target audience.

What I find interesting about both of them, especially the first, is that they acted as a double edged sword for the import community.

On the one hand they brought a lot of commercial exposure to what was to a certain degree an underground community. This made big performance companies like Edelbrock, Holley, Summit, Jegs, etc. start to develop parts and focus their sales towards more than just cars with eight cylinders.

On the other we saw the sport compact community at least double in size, if not more, with a flood of "ricers" throwing fart cans and Type R stickers on every car that didn't have a V8. However, worse than that was the increase in attention from the boys in blue. As if there wasn't enough of that already. Many communities are quickly trying to put laws into effect limiting aftermarket exhaust systems, ride height, etc. I have commonly seen police ticket a sport compact for their exhaust noise while a Monte Carlo (or some such vehicle) rumbles by at a much higher db level with no notice.

Just some of my thoughts. None of the above factors is completely because of the F&F movies. But, I think both films still played a large part in the good and the bad.

The first one was a dumb movie, but fun. Once you forgive the horrendous technical inaccuracies (how many kids tried to "double clutch" after this flick), wooden acting, and the fact that the ENTIRE plot was stolen from Point Break, the movie is enjoyable. The stunts are pretty damn good.

The second one was the first movie I ever sat down to watch were I was actually insulted that I was expected to believe the crap that was on the screen. There was so much bulls*** in this flick, and much of it not even regarding the cars. Who gets punched in the face and has nothing to show for it? Not to mention that the bridge jump would kill a normal human (no stunt man would do it, so they put a dummy in there).

I don't mind suspension of disbelief, but when I'm saying "c'mon!" every thirty seconds, I draw the line.

They were ok movies, on par with "The Wraith" (rent it if you like really cheesy movies).
I can't say that I disliked the movies, I did dislike the effects they had on much of the import car community. When I first got my MP3 I had a kid in a Talon ask me at a redlight what the retail of my car was. I couldn't answer him because i was laughing so hard. My nephew's friend destroyed the front end of his mother's Mustang because he thought it was ok to run into the back of his friends car while driving down the road. He actually said 'nothing happens to the cars on tv when they do that'. I agree with you too Vodapass, it has made police take notice to these cars also. But in their defense, most kids that try to emulate the movies and think it is ok need to be stopped.
I also agree that it made the aftermarket companies speed up their product development for certain 4 and 6 cyl cars. It also made the insurance companies look at the different models and raise the rates due to the modification of these cars. Honda Civics used to be cheap to insure because they were underpowered and safe cars, now they are one of the higher models to insure. With everything there is a good and bad result. Watch these movies then go watch Patton and Midway, now you have a movie balance.

The second I started watching the first one that is all I thought...wow, Paul Walker instead of Keanu Reeves...It was exactly like point break, except they substituted surfboards for cars. I am a big fan of Point Break, and that is why I was a little dissapointed they stole the whole plot from it...

I hope third one is all about h-badges..yo check out that hyundai..its got indepented blinker fluid sprayers, cold air windows, and T3 playing on a portable DVD player inside.

i liked the first one ...you guys have to stop with the "technical inaccuracies". some of the stuff may not be true, but it's the same for every movie. You gota admit it was one of the few movies that really went deep into technical stuff even though parts of it were wrong. They mention parts and stuff that you'll never hear of in other movies.

Alot of my friends say Hackers was a great movie and they like all the computer stuff .... i laugh when i see that movie. I thought it was good, but the technical side of the movie is crap. Same as F and F.

The question i always asked myself was ... why tha hell didnt they pay someone who really knew what he was doing to check all the technical details ? Get one or 2 guys from big companys and another one or two that actually do mod cars and race to check everything. Same as if they would hire a couple computer specialist to look at the details of movies like Hacker .. but the thing is im sure they did.

I've heard people talk on tv about computer parts and networking stuff and, even though they're on tv and people are kinda expecting them to know their s***, they're also wrong sometimes. So i guess we'll never see a 100% accurate movie

but wargames was really accurate movie! and its like my personal jesus christ of film [Insert contious banter here to keep thread alive and prove that F&F should win an accademy award]

They did. They had RJ (can't remember how to spell his last name, but the guy who owns Roja Wheels) on the set through much of the shooting. But, the problem was they hired Craig "More NOS" Lieberman as the technical director. I doubt he listened to a damn thing RJ said. That's why the basic set up of the gathering and race sequences was actually pretty good, but the technical aspects and the cars were way too Hollywood.

BTW RJ is the guy in the white Teg playing the Playstation in the racing sequence.

i dont know the guy ... but id rather have an engineer from HKS or something like that rather than a guy who owns a wheel company no ?

but i dont know him, maybe he knows his stuff.

the double clutching part pissed me off just like the ellingson (sp?) supercomputer did with it's huge weird keyboard and 3d graphics .... lol

maybe one day, they'll make ONE movie with accurate info. Hey, maybe we should make our own movie ? only mazdas
