Exhaust tip ?

Can I change the tip on my P5 so it's has a deeper sound??If so, how would I take the stock 1 out??

The tip itself can not come off it will need to be hacked off. Instead it be better to just get a axle-back exhaust which run about 160-200. Just updo the clamps and attach the new one.

Well the thing is it's under my dad's name and he won't let me change anything to the engine or anything else to make the hp go up so the tip is probably the only thing he'll let me change as far as doing anything to the exhaust.

Well then unless he will let you hack the old tip off your out of luck. You "could" probably find a tip to place over the already existing one but it won't make it sound much better and would look like crap.

Btw the axle back won't really increase the HP to much if at all. It basically just replaces from just behind the muffler to the tip. A catback would give you performance, but not really a axle back.

You can tell himi about the MazdaSpeed axle back exhaust that the dealer sells. I mean hey if the dealer allows it, then it can't hurt anything.

Yep mention that earlier, though it helps him out considering his dad didn't want anything to give it a gain.
So he gets the sound he wants, cheap, and can probably work it by his dad.

The user "Woody" has a dyno floating around here somewhere showing he gained 3.3whp from the Mazdaspeed axle back exhaust.

3 hp equals a .02 second quarter mile gain! SO WHAT!

Compared to a cat back exhaust that might get you 5 to 6whp for $400 to $700, or $67/hp to $116/hp the Mazdaspeed axle back exhaust is a pretty good deal at $60/hp. I don't think you would notice much of a difference with either a cat back or axle back without other mods. I was just simply stating that the Mazdaspeed axle back does give a modest bump in hp.

I kinda like my exhaust...even if it's worthless, it DOES sound and look cool...maybe I'm just wierd. Oh, and DragonWagon...tell your dad that the MazdaSpeed Muffler does not void the warranty. Why would'nt he let you get it? Sux for you man!
