I'm going to build an exhaust with a Magnaflow resonator, muffler, and tip. My question is this: Since I'm not using a Mandrel tubing bender (well, my exhaust guy), would it be better to use 2 1/2" pipe after the resonator?
The downpipe and catalytic converter will be the only original parts of the exhaust when I'm done. The resonator will be 2 1/4 in/out, and the rest of it will be 2 1/2 to compensate for the bends.
Then aside from the tone, the ID won't really matter at that point in terms of improved exhaust gas flow. You won't realize much improvement in power because of the larger pipe in that section I mean to say. If the cost is the same or better I'd go for it; if you think it might sound better I'd also say go for it.
