Does a Mazdaspeed axleback looks better and sounds better on a P5 or does a HKS Hi Power Exhaust looks and sounds better????
Which one do u ppl perfer????
Anyone has pic and sound clips with those exhausts???

The HKS alone sounded pretty good, wasnt that loud though. When I added the OBX header it was a huge difference. Still got quiet after 70mph. Didnt really drone. HKS is pretty expensive, you can find or make a full cat back for that price... oh and the HKS fit REAL nice

Never heard the mazdaspeed.

HKS is way better sounding and looking. Mazdaspeed drones alot. There are TONS of pics of the exhausts. Just search around this site. I keep saying I'm going to make a sound clip, but I don't care enough...

Thought about checking out the GReddy Evo2? I hear it has the best sound/fit/quality of anything available for the P5... of course also one of the most expensive. You get what you pay for, I suppose.

i heard many ppl say that mazdaspeed drones a lot too.....but then it is way cheaper than the HKS....do u think there is some way to avoid the droning....cos i might consider one if i can avoid it

I've got 1, and I've found a solution. There's a fairly good sized knob on the left hand side of the radio...turn it clockwise until the drone goes away ;). Seriously tho, if u drive a lot in the city, the MazdaSpeed sounds real nice.

lol.....great method^^
so this means droning is not a problem for city driving......wut speed does the droning sound usually come anyway????

around 78-ish and up. And yes, that's exactly what it means.

get a racing beat. no droning, looks great, and sounds awesome!

Agreed. I was against the Racing Beat catback for so long just because I wanted my P5 to be slightly unique (ha), but the painful drone of the Mazdaspeed axleback with ractive header was enough to push me over the edge. I got the Racing Beat catback direct from Racing Beat and have been happy ever since. Even with the header it isn't too loud, and it doesn't drone on the highway. Below and right around 70mph it is surprisingly quiet, they must have tuned it for that RPM. It's nice to have something tuned for our cars, not just a generic muffler with piping to fit.

The RB Exhaust is great.....i had the MSP aftermarket on for a long time and changed to RB last fall (off a MSP chopped a little). much better sounding and sounds great with an SRI or CAI intake......

is it worthwhile to get a RB catback even if im not going to do much mod on the car????
i thought of getting a RB b4 but then all i will add in the future is a CAI and i hv university tuition fee to pay.....so i dunno if it's worth it to spend $500 for a good exhaust system that i might not need...but i would love one if i hv extra$$$..that's y i look for the axlebacks.......but then if MSP is that bad....i will not get one.....
so now it's down to HKS and RB......i dunno much about cars so any suggestion for wut i should get???
PS..all i want is an exhaust that is quiet in normal driving and deep in acceleration......dun really care about performance cos i am not going to do much on the car anyway

The Mazdaspeed axleback isn't bad if you don't have a header, at least in my opinion. It has a great growl to it too. I almost miss it.

Want to buy my mazdaspeed axleback? It's sitting wrapped up in my garage closet. Of course I'd post proper Mazda Forums pictures if you were interested.

I really don't have an issue w/ the Mazdaspeed one. It sounds great in the city, and has a little bark when u shift gears ;), and it's pretty deep and throaty. It also looks nice. I do a lot of driving on the highway, and it's really not bad.

Click here for a sound clip of the Racing Beat with a Ractive Header. That is on my car, and yes, I know I need to replace the gaskets. It is by far the quietest, expecially with the stock header. The HKS is louder, and from what I have been told, it does tend to drone.

the Racing Beat is a cat-back header, not just an axleback.

here is a picture of my mazdaspeed. Had it for about a year now and i have no complaints.

You don't need to get the full cat-back from RB. If you call around to some dealers you can maybe find one that can get you the Mazda Sport Exhaust (Axle-back), made by
Racing Beat. That's what I have. It's also on the quiet side and doesn't drone at all.
Dealers can be overpriced but unless you find someone selling a used one I don't know of any other vendors.
If I don't forget I'll try and find the part number. I still have my receipt.
