exhaust problem!!

I have a 2.5 cat back custom HKS carbon Fiber exhaust. I have notice that my car is making a really low "pooop" sound when shift gear, usually above 3k rpm, or downshift. and when my car is in idle, I kinda hear a air leaking sound, and I also notice that I loose power the car it's cold. could it be that there is a leaking in my exhaust?? ^^

sounds like you're backfiring. pretty normal for this car. if you have an exhaust leak, you should notice an increase in the noise level.

i get this too... sometimes i get a burrt burrrt burrt and sometimes i get a POP!, i dunno what causes this but i raced my friend in a wrx a while back and he shot out a big ball of fire, does our car shoot out flames?

i dunno if our cars do, possibly if the exhaust system was opened WAY up.i knowin my rx-7 i can shoot some mad flames!!

Rich running car + exhaust = backfire

Don't worry about it guys, it's ok to have small backfires.

Yes, taking out the cat and upgrading to a 3" increases the chance of flamage.(evil) I'll try to get a vid sometime, but I know that mine shoots some little flames... people have commented to me about it.(laugh)

Sorry, but I just couldn't help it, "So your pooping flames then!" Not a good thing. he he Sounds like a mad leak from the cat back flange.

When my exhaust broke I was getting the backfire pretty loud!
but then again it broke right at the second cat.

I went back to the muffler shop. they found a leak between the Cat and the pipe and they fixed it... Thankz for the info guys ^^
