ES-T vs . STI ????

it's too bad you can't get an evo. but i guess the STi is ok. get some winter tires for it and it'll be usable power all year round too unlike a turbo protege where you'd just spin your tires all winter long. and the STi is going to be way more reliable than a car with as much work as you were planning to do to the protege

Hmm guess no one's got love for their cars, at least the ones that posted. I thought about buying an EVO but then again I wouldn't ge to enjoy the car fully. Consider if it's really a necesity to build the motor or to even go for a different car. I LOVE my car, it's very well balanced. Great stereo, interior, and boost is enough to put a smile on my face and have others tuck their tail between their legs. W/E you do, make sure you've considerd WHY YOU really want to change cars. GOOD LUCK MAN!!!

I loved my car too, until it spent more time sitting in my driveway than being driven because i didn't have time to work out the bugs that come from boosting a car that wasn't meant to be boosted.
There comes a point where practicality rules over dreams. And once you find that point, its time to move on, hopefully to bigger, better things :)

I see what you mean but whenever you go to the lenghts to take a car and do what you did to it you're gonna get problems. Apply it to any car and it's the same story just on a different scale. An EVO with new internals and crazy boost plus going full blown on the whole car will bring problems too. It's the way of the game, you gotta pay to play and roll with them punches.

Oh i rolled plenty, and i certainly paid to play...
But i piad to be as fast as an STI or EVO, when in reality, I could've bought the car for what i spent, was it more fun to build a car that scared the s*** out of me, and surprised the hell out of EVO owners? HELL YES, but i envy them, because they can turn the key every morning and know it will start, and know that they don't have to wrench on it every weekend to keep it running.

I guess STI, but I would be more impressed if you had a 300hp protege than if u had a 300hp STI. But the STI is overall a more reliable car.

pay less MS3
then put in the difference in money to burn sti's, evo's. has (winter problems?)traction control on, (Lost) Navi on, (want to cruise?) six gear on, plus its lighter and cost less!

wounder powers activate!

I had an STi...and I loved it...until strange noises came about...differential squeeks and grinds...I did run it a lot. I was just afraid that anything I needed to do to the engine, it had to come out...I mean even a small valve cover leak  Love my Protege!

sounds like you should've gotten an evo :)

EVO all the way! STI motors are a big pain to work on them! Last I will say the MS6, if you want the AWD Again if you can! get the EVO

Don't forget the difference in not only payments but insurance will be like double. And you don't need 300HP to beat an STI (stock)!!
