Engine question

Hey so my 1.5L 97 protege was beat by me in high school. I'm looking to do an engine swap, I have found some 1.5l on ebay for reasonable prices. But what if i wanted to throw the 1.8 engine in there. What alternative motors are compatable?

I'm going on not knowing what is compatible by transmissions, engine mounts, and wiring harnesses, but pick an engine, any engine. Chances are, straying from the 1.5 or 1.6 will lead you into needing a new trans and mounts, on top of needing the ecu. It all depends on what kind of work you are willing to put in or pay for. Also depends on what you're wanting to do with it and how you're planning on driving it (turbo, race, daily, etc...). For boost the 1.6 will give you a nice compression ratio and is stronger then the 2.0, you could also go for a klde or more preferably the klze (2.5 v6 from mx6, d being domestic, z being jspec), you could go for an fsde or fsze which is the 2.0. Figure out what you want to spend and how you want to drive it and I'm sure there will be guides on here somewhere on how to do it or if you're doing something new, someone around here will have the knowledge to help.
