Hey guys I'm looking for the engine cover that dresses up the engine valve cover, I've seen it on the MP3 its a black cover that cover the sparkplug wires .
Iwondering if any dealer would sell them or I would have to go to a mazdaspeed dealership.

hello Henry and welcome to the club.

YES you can get them at a dealer....HOWEVER....its not just that cover you need to do the install...there are a few bolts/screws that hold it on..and those bolts/screws go directly into your valve cover...and into special bosses that are drilled and tapped...and guess what? those bosses are NOT on your valve cover...only on the valve cover for the MP3.....so if you want that cover...you not only have to get that cover...but also the REAL valve cover for the MP3.....quite an expensive way to dress up the engine.

Hey thanks for the reply Sir Nuke, I guest thats out!

Man, I can't belive that someone would want an engine cover. I think that is one of the worst trend of modern times. My suggestion would be to get a nice set of spark plug wires to dress up the engine. and maybe paint your valve cover. Although I just like the look of a clean engine.:p

I put that cover on my wife's P5 and it looks a lot better. The valve cover design itself is soooo ugly and that oil filler neck looks like it could double as a lighthouse for the engine bay. Anyway, I made my own brackets to hold it on, it doesn't move around at all and I think it looks 10 times better. But hey, everyone has there opinion and I can respect that.

Peace
Griff

paint it black.. as the rolling stones would say... in this case.. cover it black.. :)

(rofl) good one

Yeah, just paint the valve cover, it looks good, it's cheap, and it'll actually protect the engine!

Hey Zoom Zoom what is the part number to that cover cause the dealer won't give it without a vin. number and how much was it .

Thanks

I had an extra valve cover from my original engine. I shipped it to Reshie, and he now has it on his P5 with a engine cover from a Sport 20 wagon!

Yeah, how much is that valve cover?

I want one too!

The cover was expensive, for a piece of plastic anyway. It was $117.90 I personally think a painted valve cover is kinda cheesy, but I have seen it look ok in several situations. I just think powder coating is a better solution. However, changing the color of the cover does not change how it is shaped, and that is what I think is ugly about the cover. My ultimate plan for the whole thing is to have the plastic cover sprayed the body color and I am going to powder coat the actuall cover red or some similar combination.

Peace
Griff

Hey Griff what up,
That part number was off by one letter ,The # you gave me was FS9W-10-2FO and the one they said it is FS9N-10-2FO and they wanted $105.23 plus shipping .
I'm going to order it now from Trussville mazda so thanks for the info.:D

That's cool, I was trying to decipher the number from the printout that the parts guy gave me, it was hard to tell what was pointing to what, sorry. Anyway, if you would like, I can get my digital camera back from my partner and take some pics of the brackets that I made to hold it on. Basically, I used some heavy duty backstrap material (like what comes with a radio) and some rubber bump stops from a honda hood. You can see part of the front two brackets and that is about it. I covered one of them in a short piece of black wire loom and the other was not worth bothering with. Anyway, let me know and I will help in any way I can.

Peace
Griff

Hey Griff I just order the cover I should have it tommorow
and then I'll see how Ican mount it on, I'm pretty handy when it come to fabricating something but if you like to send me your pic and give some idea I'll be greatful .
I know their some other people interested on the cover !
I just like my engine compartment to look decent . I don't think that painting the valve cover would look as good as the cover.:D

I can get one for ya, but I have to get my dig camera back from my partner and get a pic of the car while my wife if home. I am off tomorrow, I will try and get it taken care of.

Griff

Well, I went outside and took these pics of the cover at 1 A.M. The car is kinda dirty and I really could not tell what I was shooting at till the pic was snapped, but you get the idea. If you look at the left side, you can see the piece of black loom that is covering one of the brackets I made. That one was the most obvious, the back 2 can not really be seen and the one on the right front is hardly noticable. It is securely mounted and does not move around. As far as the oval in the middle, we cut out an oval from carbon fiber look vinyl and then overlaid the Mazda emblem over it, just to have something there.

Later
Griff

P.S. Is there a way to attach more than one pic to a message?
