EMS solutions for the MSP

16psi on a split second ftc with some 565cc injectors you will have a wicked little dd, thats about what i am going to do with my mp3..
i say FTC! easy install, easy tune, does it all and it 1/3 the price!

cool digs, and i could probably use most of the wires already used for the SSAFC, just gotta find someone who would buy an SSAFC with shorter wires *DOH* or i could buy lengths of wire and extend them myself before selling lol

so does anyone know what the difference is in the wiring for the SSAFC and the SSFTC? i plan on swapping them out with each other in the near future, and i want to know if itd be easier to cut the ssafc wires near where its mounted and just solder in the FIC in its place then route the wires required to change the timing?

The OP hasn't been on in ages. Someone should update this because you can get teh haltech 500 1000 prewired into a AEM patch harness for PNP by JDMSam over at cross over auto

Does his patch harness setup keep the stock PCM for a parallel setup? Gauges, A/C, alternator, fans, still working, and no CEL? All necessary pullups/downs, and isolaters in and circuits modified for CLT and IAT sharing?

Just curious, I've had a lot "fun" configuring my Megasquirt for a parallel setup, and I've wondered how much modification is needed for the 500 to match it. The one thing the 500 doesn't have is boost control, otherwise I may have gone that route.

Sorry didnt see your post tell now.. yes. Its setup that way so all you need to do is tune fuel adn timing. The stock ecu comtrolls idle rpms, guages, ac, ect ect still

Yeah, I think if my goal would have been to have something working quickly rather than a toy/hobby, I would have just picked up a sprint500. The megasquirt has been educational to say the least.

does anybody know what happened to that huge thread with the AEM F/IC install instructions and how to? im on the market for a new EMS when my return comes in, and im doing some research now. id rather not go back to split second, as id like to increase my injector size, and the split second did not allow me to do that.

im running 440s on my split second...

^Strange. The SSAFC should work ok with 565's, although if you tune open and closed loop you may have to alter the MAF voltage enough to cause a low MAF voltage cell.

ive done extensive reading on it, and even talked to split second themselves, they claim that the afc and the ftc do not support injectors larger than 440cc, it MAY work but probably not. that was basically their official take on it, and like they said some people have tried it with success, me on the otherhand i almost got stuck in the middle of town just put put puttin along at 5mph hahaha

I didn't read aaaallll the last 11 pages but have you considered Megasquirt?

These are affordable, customizable, no limit of the setup you have. It only takes 2 more sensors (IAT, ECT) and you're in business. I run this management (version II) for my custom 1.6L turbo setup and really enjoying it!!!

ive considered it, but i dont have the knowhow on making one, and the premade units are about 450 if my memory serves me correct? and theres a couple aem units on the board right now for decent prices, and i honestly just want the car running at this point, it hasnt run good in almost two years because of a faulty EMS. ive had to run my car out of boost since i got my gt28rs =[

The AEM FIC is a great unit but there are a few issues getting it set up on our cars. If you get one and run into some problems let me know I may be able to help. Whenever I'm done playing with my SSAFC I'm switching to an AEM FIC.

On my side, I have the chance to know a few buddies near Montreal that knows very well these Standalone units so... Finally, until you know everything of standalone units, the best unit you can get is a unit that someone can tune it very well near you. Because you can have the most expensive and complex unit, if nobody can tune it right... you're FKD!!! :)

well i used to tune my car myself when i had the split second, i have wideband and boost gauge so its not too hard.
