btw, how can a CPU leave stains on a desk? I thought it could only leave scratches! oh wait... maybe he was talking about the computer case/enclosure which has rubber feet at the bottom that may leave strips of rubber on a table?
Asterchild said:Blaxer: Whatever...you almost have a clue. I love your self-important attitude. You are the type of customer I say good riddens to. So what exactly do you actually know about eMachines as a company or how they compare to the other cookie cutter computer makers? eMachine has stood on the edge of Packard Bell doom and then pulled itself back up. If you actually knew anything you would know that eMachines are now the only PC to come with recovery CD's, with Sony, Compaq, HP you have to make your own. That's 1 DVD and 1 CD or 7 CDs. eMachines use standard size PSUs, standard MB, everything standard.
Have you ever considered that the PC may have been damaged in shipping? I have opened probably 100+ of the bundle PC and monitor package that you have and had problems with only 1.
Seems like most of the replies to this are peoples experiences on the old eMachines that were crap. Now they are decent.
Hate to see ignorance spread.

emachines are s*** because they use the lowest bidder s*** hardware
you expect to find a MODEM in that thing? good luck! you'll find this 3x1" tiny ass thing with phone jacks stuck on it that's used as an excuse for a "modem"... thats AMR for you!
Asterchild said:Blax, thanks for your reply. The "moral" of my story is that there are defective items out of the box and that your single experience does not warrant the label of POS on the brand. You could have been a more constructive in your letter to them if you want to be taken seriously.
eMachines are untouchable at their price points and they are NOW reliable computers. They USED TO BE crap. They had proprietary parts, etc etc. However from feedback they have improved which includes using STANDARD parts from reliable manufacturers. Go to a computer show some time to really see the crappy clone computers that sell that cheap.
BTW you would be surprised at how few HP, Compaq, and Sony customers actually make their recovery discs the first days of ownership. Just another inconvience in the war to cut costs.

blaxer said:My self-important attitude? Do you know how free enterprise works and how to establish a good name for your company? Obviously not because providing recovery CDs is not the sign of a good company. "Let's buy this computer, it comes with recovery CDs!" :wtf: You said it yourself, the eMachines used to be crap, feedback is exactly what a company needs to improve their product.
