e-manage & ignition timing - need help

i've installed the greddy e-manage on my mazdaspeed and my mechanic has tuned the fuel for 10 psi with a t3/t4. fuel mixture is perfect, but i haven't been able to use the use the ignition timing feature on the e-manage because the coils keep on melting everytime we test drive the car with timing adjustments. we've melted 2 coils so far, both times have been from trying to tune fuel & timing for 15 psi. so i'm not exactly sure if it's because we're going from 10 - 15 psi ,or if there's some kind of setting on the stock computer that rejects any changes made to ignition timing.

i'm stuck at 10 psi (only fuel has been adjusted, no change in timing), and i don't want to try and go beyond this point and blow another coil until i can figure out why this keeps happening. has anyone experienced this problem, or can maybe give some theoretical insight as to why this would haapen?
i've checked out a couple of dragster proteges and i noticed that they use 4 individual coils. would this make a difference on my car?

thanks.

I would probably switch to coil packs if I went with the Emanage. Use GM ones like on the Saturns.

Make sure that your rotary switches are right, and double check the igintion wires maybe

you got someting mixed up.

Talk to 1FASTMSP. He has been tuning his very effectively for a while now, and he hasn't had any problems like that. Also, I think orangezoom(?) is running it on his.

post your email address and i will email you a file that has the wiring diagrams and rotary switch settings for the MSP, you probably either have something wired wrong or the rotary switches are not configured correctly....

Hey guys

I'm considering putting an eManage in my P5 (which will be going boosted in the spring), and I'm a bit confused by some of the info here. What's the deal with the rotary switches? I've looked at wiring diagrams and read lots, and this is the first of them.

Thx

I actualy helped a friedn put Emanage in his civic. We encountered a problem where one of the injectors was locked open.

I eventualy found the problem, Greddy had screwed up with their wire colors. They had the ground wire for the injectors and the wire for injector 4 swapped in the harness according to the colors they should be. We got ahold of a guy the uses alot of E manage units on civics and he mentioned they have a few common wiring problem like this.

Go through the manuel comparing wire colors to pin locations. Be sure that you have the right colors in the right pins.

They tell the emange sme basic things about that car, like the number of cylinders. They are on the outside of the unit and the manual lists their functions.

On an NA p5, will the ignition timing feature burn my coil packs as well or is that just inherent on msp's? I'm w/ Netguy here and I'll be droppin my e-manage in soon. Doing the fuel/ignition tuning. He's going boosted but I choose to stay NA.

If you saw my maps you will notice we hardly messed with the timing at all, we just played with the fuel.

hey does anybody have greddy emanage blue maps for the msp protege because I seem to be having trouble with my emanage so I would like to try another map from somebody that is working good in their car, when I accelerate my car WOT the ignition timing retards and does not go back normal and the car continues to burn rich no CEL comes up, if i turn off the car for a little while and start back everything is back to normal unless I accelerate again WOT so before I rip out the emanage blue I would like to try another map just to be sure
