I think, inadvertantly or not, Owens should get some credit for the way the whole team is playing. Think about it:
He gives McNabb something he has not had since he's been here-a legit #1 wr. That makes him more confident. He knows if he puts the ball near him, he'll catch it. This also means alot of double-teams on TO. Which opens up Pinkston a bit (which CAN'T hurt!). Plus, he knows that if he messes up, it looks worse. So Pinky picks up his game. First down Freddy wants the spotlight, so he'll play harder (smarter?) to steal some of Owens' glow. The DTs on Owens also means there is more room for Westbrook to do his thing on fakes and screens.
As for the D side:
There is much less pressure at this point to keep the opponent off the board, as the offense is playing so well they're putting up points almost every time they're on the field. Less pressure means fewer mental mistakes and instances of over-playing. Granted, the run "D" still could be better.................
Special teams are what they are, and that's solid.
In summary, if the team were a "pyramid scheme", you'd have to put McNabb AND Owens at the top. At least for now. They've been so good together, and bring such energy to the game, the rest of the team just feeds off of it.
And when you're happy and winning, things seem to snowball.
As for "The Freak"........................
