DSL internet providers

I am switching my home internet from old school dial-up to DSL, welcome to the 20th century I know.

Does anyone use Netzero DSL or EarthLink. Any good/bad stories about their providers are welcome.

I heard SBC was good but they are currently not available in my area. They were my first choice based on name recongition only.

DSL sucks, cable internet is a better bang for buck if you can get time warner or optimum online

I love my DSL - it's from the local phone company but the 3MB downloads can't be beat, and of course the upload speed is far superior to any cable provider I've seen in the area.

but how much do you pay including the phone service you need for it?

I have both Time Warner cable and SBC DSL at my place and I get much better speeds from the cable connection and it is much more consistant.
