Driver side carpet

Hi! i have an 08 CX-9 and the carpet has white salt stains from the Canadian winters. i can't seem to take them out any ideas?

So that's what Canadians do during those long winters, oh you said white "salt" stains. Now not being funny, have you tried a carpet cleaner or soaking the mats?

Ive had that problem where the salt becomes inbedded in the carpet or floor mat and becomes hard.

This was on my Pilot, not my CX9 which does have all weather mats.

On the Pilot, I put the rubber mats over the regular mats for better protection of the carpet.

Most of the salt accumulates near the gas pedal that had an open area.

That is a total NO-NO! Specially the driver's front. Don't ever do that because it coulg cause the pedals to get stuck.

Not the way I had it set up. The factor carpet mats didnt go under the pedal - only the rubber mats- so it wasn't sliding up.

I did similar thing. I bought some 10'x10' outdoors floor mat from Homedepot, cut them to the same shape as the capet. They are similar in color so my wife didn't even notice them until I told her. I even put some binder clips around the edges to make sure they don't move and they never do. When it gets dirty I just throw them away...its like less than a buck per mat.
