Drag racers..

i dont do wot shift, i started doing/practicing half throttle shifting that laloosh told me about and it works out pretty good. sometimes i do WOT from 3-4 jsut the long shift scare me, 2-3, 4-5 Just havent had enough practice doing my launching. I dont think ill do the WOT shifts untill i get the SS and feel comfortable about it.

on the street I always do a half throttle shift. at the track, I figure I'm there to go balls to the wall, I'm going all out. there's just a little too much power in second gear for the tires I have.

Allow revs to come up from a short shifted 2-3 like 5200 and DROP clutch I am almost able roast all of 3rd. Great parlor trick HA You catch the power band at almost full torque when hit third and of course you should be receiving full boost now that you're in third! All four tires on mine are gone at 14,000 Damn good fun

So I guess no one has a problem flat shifting... I mean I can and have done it but I'm sorta afraid of f'n my tranny by hitting the rev limiter multiple times between shifts. Maybe I just need a short shifter +brushings. I wonder how much time I'm losing in the 1/4 by not flat shifting. Thing is I just shift really really fast and don't completely let off the gass and it seems to work fairly well

If you are hitting the rev limiter when shifting, your are:

a. Shifting to high in the RPM range - 5700 is fine, and that's 1,000 RPM below redline.
or
b. You are taking time out for lunch between gears.

lol@ time out for lunch!

so you can just lay your foot down on the gass all the way thru all the gears no problem? When I think of Flat shifting that's what I think of. I flat shift 3-5 but gears 1-3 are usally half throttle for me.

Nothing wrong with hitting the rev limiter/fuel cut...thats why its there to protect the engine. Don't worry about hitting...

I shift at 6000. 5700 seemed just a tad too low for me to shift. my times were teh best when I rode the gears out just a little bit more.
