Dodge srt-4 sales

Speed3
I was on my way to the gym this morning and saw a dodge dealership had a wild hair so I decided to go see if the srt-4's were in stock . First thing a salesman walks up to me and asks if he could help me. mind you I'm just stepping out of my speed3 . I told him i would like to see the new srt-4's .He starts glaoting and saying that they will be way faster than the STI's and that they will be awd ???
So I asked him if he knew what kind of car i was driving he seemed to have no Idea and preceeded to say the srt-4 is faster than " THAT " finger pointing to my modified speed3 . So i explained to him what drivetrian loss was and that a heavier srt-4 with AWD would stand no chance against an STI with less hp and more weight . Plus it would cost 2-3 thousand more . Then i asked him how much more the regular AWD caliper was compared to the FWD he said 2-3 thousand more. then he lightened up a little and said that they would probably wait a while before releasing an AWD version .

I really don't think these guys know what they are selling .

they absolutely don't. car enthusiasts don't sell cars, they buy them.

I wouldn't be surprised if he proceeded to show you a base Caliber since the SRT uglified one isn't out yet.

hmm that sound like the mazda salesman when I wanted to check out a speed3... At least he did'nt lie though he just said that thing is really really fast.

well, to be fair, the caliber will do pretty damn well in a straight line. the bottom line is that the ms3 isn't going to be running away from a caliber...unless it's in the other direction as we hide from the looks...^^;

All the reviews and road tests still favor the MS3 over the Caliber. Noone likes the interior, nor the fact it weighs more. I've driven a few Caliber's around and I can't say I like the interior at all, nor the way it drives.

Figured that, most salesman are dumb. You can basically get hired as a salesman off the street without any college degree....the first time i bought my speed 3 the sales man said " well, the speed 3 is a nice car, but why would you trade in your integra for this ?" "isn't your car faster ???" thought to myself, wow, what a dumbass....

That's why now you have to be certified and licensed to sell cars here in BC. Not as much BS from people that don't know what they are doing.

lol...this dude was probably a honda salesman in disguise...^^;

Most car salesman are idiots....
w3rd. When I bought my P5 not only did I have to show the salesman how to drive a stick he wouldn't stop asking me "product knowledge" type questions that HE should have known. Every time I stopped in after that he would attack me with all types of questions and telling me that I should be a car salesman(jerkit)

Again, there are sub-forums outside of the Mazda3 section.... thanks for posting more s*** in the welcome forum.

na, dont worry about it. Someone else can move it if they want too. I just like being an ass.

Every time I go to a car dealership looking to buy a car...usually a special edition like Mazdaspeed, SRT, SVT, etc, I have to educate the sales person about it...they first take me to the regular version, and I'm like no, the MS or SRT, SVT version and they usually have a puzzled look until they come back out of the managers office... LOL

The dealers should really educate their sales people about the cars they are selling. Teach them the corporate culture of that manufacturer... The Zoom-Zoom spirit and what it means to sell a car with a sports car soul...
Other companies have their own special culture...

At least thats what would make sense to me... You can't sell something if you have no clue what it is...

So true, and very well put.

wow....

you guys are making me feel like s*** (peep)

Im a salesperson and I know my products and other manufacturer's products AND I would consider myself an enthusiast.

Please dont blanket all salesmen as retards, the reality is - If they dont care enough to know their product, they wont know enough to stay a salesperson.

It has nothing to do with education, it comes down to work ethic. The other issue is that every auto group functions under a different set of guidelines making it entirely 100% possible to walk into a dealership of "clerks" who dont know the first thing about the product past the window sticker. It aslo makes it very easy to walk into a dealership that knows 150% of what they should.

There are idiots at any job, its just that sales positions are out in public view. For those of you who work in office settings, tell me you DONT have a dumbass working there that has defied all hiring logic. I will then call :bs:.

lol, i remember going to an Mitsu dealership before the evo came out the salesmen told me it was gonna have twin turbos and 330 hp.
