Do you live with mommy and daddy?

Like I said before I became a father at 17 and a husband at 19 but now that my daughter is 16 I have told her to stay here and let me pay for J.C. and then roll into a 4 yr school while, you guessed it, she lives at home. I dont care if it takes her until she is 30 yrs old to get out all of my kids are welcome here whenever they need a place to stay I mean heck why am I building up to a 3300 square ft house if my kids aren't welcome.
I told her the smart thing to do is to buy all your toys at home while you go to school i.e. Plasma TV, house wares, clothes, new car, get your credit established learn the ropes of life before you dump yourself out into it. Set yourself up for success not failure.
Now my middle daughter (who is 11) is wild and crazy like me she gains success through multiple failures so she will jet at an early age but she will make it and my 3rd daughter who is 3; Well the jury is still out on to how her personality and abilities will help shape her future and whether or not living at home beyond 18 will benefit her or not.
All in all I dont think Ceej is overly hateful or a redneck he just seems to have a sense of frustration towards young people who perhaps have had different opportunities and yes may be little immature s****, but not all of them are and perhaps an extended stay (if possible) at home would have benefited you and your quest for success in life.
Anyway I made it, my kids will make it, and we will succeed together.

With mortgage rates as low as they are now, there isn't a better time to buy a house than NOW. :) Even rental properties are less expensive because of the demand for purchasing. I purchased a house for less than it would cost to rent a comparable place.

Damn, it cost me an extra $50/month to buy a house. I got ripped off. j/k

Nothing better than being able to provide for yourself! I moved out when I was 18 to go get 22k in student loans. The good news is that when I graduated and got a job I celebrated by buying a house. I'm just trying to support the economy with the debt. Anything less than 200k in debt is just un-American.

I agree debt is the american way of life. It just sucks that eventually they wont let you get in anymore debt. Otherwise I would have everything, EVERYTHING

nod

There is so much my credit card company could own for me. My wife and I spent the past 18 months paying off a little over 18k in various debt.

My current credit card debt = $0.00. I tell you, it was a great feeling to send in my last payments to my various credit cards.

That is awesome congrats! I still owe about 12K in credit card debt down from about 18K a year ago. I should have it gone by the end of the year. Now that I am living at home of course. :D

No s***! The Average American family supposedly spends a 1.20$ for every dollar they earn. Some people seem to judge their wealth by their ability to create debt :D
We only have 7500.00$ of credit card debt at 6% interest and when it's gone, IT'S GONE!
Hopefully our house will sell soon and we can take our 42-53k of left over equity (depending on closing costs etc.) and get our new house going. We will owe about 180k on it but it will be worth about 310k when it is done.
In Texas 310k will buy you a great house, heck in the right area a 120-170k will buy you a damn nice one.
Our present house was built 4 yrs ago for 97,600 and is worth about 173,300 per appraisal. It's nice but a little too small 2400' on 3 acres, 9ft ceilings, nice Floor to ceiling mantel with marble around the fireplace, solid hardwood hand built cabinets etc. we just need another bedroom now.
Will be able to pay our credit debt off with part of the proceeds from the sale and my cousin builds homes so he is cutting us a really good deal on the new house :D
Actually he built the last one as well..

hehehe

My house is 1500' on .167 acres. I wish I had 3 acres, my dogs would love that s***! Of course they'd never come inside, but that's ok too with a the stuff they tear up.

Some day I'll have a nice piece of land out in the middle of BFE. Farm to live, make my own power.... Wait, I forgot that in this dream I'm rich and I can hire some hands to work the farm and tend to the nuclear power generation station.

My dad was just in Dallas for work and he looked at house there and said that they are very inexpensive in comparison to around where we live in the NH or MA area

Three things to look for when buying property:

Location, location and location.

My house is the smallest one in the neighborhood...but what a neighborhood to be in! :D

Our present house is in a resrticted rural subdivision so many sq ft, so much brick etc. and it's deed restricted not a bad place to be but the new place is about four miles further South and it is going to be a killer gated community.
Here is the mangement web site www.ddresorts.com
Our's is the one on the bottom it is under construction so the web site will come later.

Yes to whomever it was Dallas is way more expensive than being in a nice rural area. Just a few miles away (in town) a small 60x70 lot will cost over 21,000$ we got our two 1.5 acre lots for 6800.00 a piece and now they are valued at 21,900$ each!

No offense, but that's one of the most shortsighted comments I have ever read. I really hope you're being facetious....

Man, for 15k you can get a zero-net-energy home that uses solar panels and some killer electronically controlled storage/delivery systems that ROCK! Well the one desgined for my hosue was 15k.
I was very close to staying where I am at installing a well and the solar system so I could loose my utility bills. In Texas where I live there are several homes scattered about that have similar systems. They earn credit all yr long from the Electric company and in the winter the generally don't have a bill so it breaks even.
