Dealership Quality

2003.5 Black MP5
Hey guys,

I want to take my 03.5 P5 in to a dealer to have them see why I'm getting clutch chatter. I bought it from Sesi Mazda in Ypsilanti, but their service dept. seems shady. What dealerships in the Ann Arbor or Detroit area have you had the best luck with? My car is very lightly modded, nothing that would affect the clutch, but I don't want them to give me a hard time.

thanks

jon... do NOT take your car to sesi. ive had tons of problems with the service managers.

i would suggest going to bill cook.
they did replace my tranny with 2k miles left on the warranty.
but i did also watch one tech beat the s*** out of my car after he worked on bushings.
i kinda got into a heated conversation with the service manager there. but i did watch the tech floor it down the street as i was on the phone outside.

it took me 7 times of complaining till i got my tranny replaced.

sesi sucks . i went for 6 of the complaints there

then i went to cook and they didnt give me any flack. and just replaced it.

I concur that Sesi's service department sucks. The parts department and sales departments are ok but not the service.

Ralph Thayer in Livonia may be closer to you but they're pretty much an unknown quantity at this point. I've heard neither good nor bad about them but anybody has to be better than Sesi. I've also heard nothing but good things about Cook.

believe it or not, ive had excellent luck with sesi's service dept. I purchased my car there and have taken it in for service 3 times since then, and only the last time they started to hassle me, but were quick to fix things anyway. As far as bad dealers go, I would NOT recommend Sterling Mazda in Woodhaven. The service as well as the sales dept. are shady and don't care about customer satisfaction. I've also taken my mom's Millenia to Ralph Thayer and had good results with them, so I would recommend them too. Not to be the opposite of everyone in this post, but I haven't had a bit of trouble with them and gotten things fixed right away through Sesi.

I have not had any problems at Sterling Mazda in Woodhaven (yet), although I have had my share of issues with Suburban in Troy..

so where exactly is cook? i think that is the place i looked up on the net and tried to submit an online request for warranty work and never got a response back, but i'm not sure, now that the weathers a little nicer i'd like to get in there and get everything fixed, see if they will replace my bent rim even :D...

What did they work on for you?

They fixed the lost channel on my 6 disc, replaced the upper intake manifold when i lost part of my throttle body and it got lodged inside, my window regulator, rear door panel, and they did my MSP front end too.

Suburban leaves a lot to be desired with service... their sales dept was good, sales guy took VERY good care of us, but the service so far is not good and the "body" section of thier place is a COMPLETE JOKE. When we picked the car up, someone hit a parking block with the front end and the whole thing was jacked up on the lower drivers side ground effects... it took them 3 times taking the car back to get it right... their "paint guy" sucks becuase every time the car came back it was like there was 600 grit sand paper on the front... it was the dullest, roughest, shotty-est paint repair I have ever seen. It still isn't perfect, but to most people it is fine... I happen to have an eye for paint, so it bothers me, it's just not worth the agony of risking them F-ing something else up.

The auto trans in her car has been somewhat problematic (slips on shifts and act's very iratic sometimes) from the start and they have done NOTHING about it... I have made SURE that they have documented each and every complaint on it, but they have yet to do anything... even a fluid flush/change. It has been in 3 times for that as well. I am through with Suburban for their service, I can't beleive that more people don't complain about them and that something hasn't been done about it yet.

I used to work at Cook as a Mazda/Nissan service writer. I take my car there still and get good service. If you go in, ask for your car to be worked on by Dan, he is their veteran Mazda tech. Been there over 10 years. I cannot vouch for the service writers currently as they have changed several times in the 2 years since I left but Cook is overall pretty responsible and accountable.
