DDM Tuning Apexcone Raptor HID Kit - $30 plus shipping

been on the accord and the lancer for a month or two now and its all good so far. now im thinking about getting one as a backup pair

Tryn to do my lobeams today since one blew out. I picked up a fog kit too there's no labels on the boxes which is which?? The ballasts all seem the same even the connectors WTF

The ballasts are the same no matter what side and should be the same between the fogs and headlights.

Got to install the lobeams tonight in a carwash bay lol.. Had to do it since my factory lobeam bulb died ugh.. I did a quick install. Harness and all.. Going to mount the ballasts tomorrow with brackets and tape up everything. They are soo much better than the halogens. I can't want to install the Fogs also!

Now some questions...

There's the white original lobeam connector that powers the original halogen bulb, I had to stick those 2 small tab wires into it.. Where do I put it? The 2 tab wires from the new HID bulb are kept in a new little rubber grommet.. and I can't fit it under the OEM rubber weather protector cover.. So I have the wires coming out of the weather cap and it's not completely sealing.. Where am I suppose to keep the original white connector??

Also.. is there a way to check if the bulbs are installed correctly? I have the rectangular tap on the back of the bulbs facing down and the spring holder clipped back in. It seems the lights aim up a little bit. Is there a headlight adjuster I can lower the lights?

Also... What are the Canadians doing to fix the DRL flicker? I bought a used Canadian P5 in the US haha.

I also replaced a dead taillight bulb too.. I can't believe all my lights are going! Looks like all my lights are originals though.. I just picked the car up 3 weeks ago. When I got home and parked, I noticed my driver side sidemarker was out too ALKSJDALSKLASKjd So I'm going to replace that tomorrow.. already took the bulb out.

I removed the two wires from the grommet, basically I cut them, removed them from behind the boot, and installed them separate. This way the boot can completely seal up.

EDIT: As far as a battery harness goes, I would go ahead and get one no matter what kit you get (35w or 55w). It's a nice backup to have in case anything goes wrong and gives your ballasts the true power they need to fire up. This is the harness I ordered - http://www.retrosolutionsllc.com/servlet/the-247/HID-XENON-WIRING-HARNESS/Detail

Thanks Matt.
I actually ordered 2 harnesses for the fog and lo beam kits. I installed them too.. I just dunno how someone could install them without..Would that mean they would just be powered by the original sockets?!?!

I'll probably cut and move them over tomorrow morning when I ziptie and mount the ballasts..
I don't have the new slimmer ballasts, I have the slightly boxier ones.. they don't have holes to mount them with.. any suggestions? I don't think double sticky tape would work haha..

Took my about 20 minutes to install and most of it was moving the flash lights around to see what i was doing!

Yep, most people run these off of the factory sockets which as you can probably imagine can create some problems. Good choice on the harnesses, how hard was the install? I should have my harness Monday or Tuesday. As far as the ballasts go, I would use zip ties on them.

The ballasts don't have holes to ziptie =( Just plain box with nothing to use to mount!! I was thinking some bodymoulding tape. I use that to hole alot of stuff up in my G.

Took me ~20 minutes in a dark carwash bay haha. Most of the time was wasted on figuring out how to run the harness away from the header etc.

Put a zip tie on each side, as far as you can get to the edge on both sides to hold it down.

Can you take pics of the engine bay when you have a chance? I would like to see how you ran the wiring harness.

I'll take a pic tomorrow when I finish it up.

I put the power wire on the nut that tightens the postive battery clamp.

Ground, I used the same bolt that the battery grounds to (by the driver's strut mount area)

The relay is mounted on a bolt that holds a brace for the intake box.
I ran the pass side by zip tying the line on top of the valve cover along the plug wires / injector harness and whatever else flowed to the pass side...

That's bout it.

What complications can come about doing it this way? Does the optional harness address the flickering issues of cars with drl's?

I'm not sure about the DRL's but the harness gives the ballasts the proper power they need when they are warming up. The ballasts draw much more power than a 55w bulb at start up and when you keep constantly doing this, issues can arise.

The harness has an extra fuse and the relay to power the ballasts from the battery. I've bought hid kits before and one of the reasons why this kit is so cheap is because the kit doesn't include the harness in the price. Most kits I've bought actuall included the harness. Luckily it's pretty cheap and it'd be dumb to not buy it and find out you need it later and pay shipping. Also it's good to have incase you tax the lighting system over an extending amount of bulb strikes.

Matt I have those pics will when I get home tonight.

I notice the dels are giving me a hard time now. Hids won't turn on if you engage the parking brake first. Meaning I would have to turn the headlights on before putting the ebrake down. Hids also flicker when you engage the parking brake trying to turn drl on. I wish I could just cut the drl switch. Too bad it's integrated into the lobeam.

All the diys on fixing this problem looks a bit more complicated than I was hoping for.

Here's some pics MattV
