Dash Creak!

Hey everyone.

In the past couple of weeks, my 2 month-old 2008.5 Black Mica GT has developed an annoying habit.

In the morning on my drive to work, the dash creaks and squeeks horribly with any small bump or vibration. I know exactly where it's coming from, too. It's coming from right where the bezel around the HU display meets the mode buttons, (right below it). I can press on the bezel when it's creaking, and it stops.

Anyone else experience this?

I have that creak, too, as soon as I had the HU TSB done. When I feel so inclined, I'll pack some sound deadener behind the trim piece.

Yeah, that's what I thought about doing, too.

Yep mine does it too. It has done it since day one and I've taken it in to the dealership to have the TSB done on it...Well, they told me that they do not just do the TSB unless they can duplicate the thing. Mine only does it first thing in the morning when it is still cool out. I don't know how your dealers are where you're at, but I would keep track of when it does it and take it to the dealer at that time if they try to duplicate the sound.

i get some from the knee area around the driver side and passenger side, but only really when i press up against it.

i just turn up the radio

this particular issue can be corrected with some electical tape applied to some (i can't remember which) of the slots for that long trim piece that surrounds the display. i had this a long time ago and remedied it in that manner.

Exactly. I actually removed all the trim, taped the back of them and reinstalled. Where any minor creak still existed, just cram in some black trash bag material...just cut 2"x2" pieces and wedge it in between the panels with an old credit card.

It's so thin it slides in easily and moves and flexes between the panels thus lubricating the panels and in the end, zero creaks.
