So she somehow thinks Mazda should have a full warranty at 126,000 miles. Unreal. Literally over twice the promised mileage (industry standard). Do people think a warranty is supposed to be unlimited? She posted on many threads telling others not to get a Mazda because of her experience.

That's exactly the same choice we faced with our CX-5. But if Mazda hasn't made upgraded parts available, what's the point? Won't we have the same issues down the road?
is there any preventive measures that can be taken before the cylinder head cracks? has it been determined why some vehicles are affected or is it just a matter of time until all vehicles are affected?
You're in luck! You can get their newly developed 3.3 i6 engine!!Well, one thing's for sure...I will never be purchasing another 2.5L engine in any Mazda vehicle until this mess is solved. I'm just amazed it hasn't had any more publicity than the little I've seen on various forums.
The only people who get decent compensation on a class action lawsuit are the lawyers. There is a class action lawsuit investigation currently underway regarding this problem for the CX-5 and CX-9 models. I provided them my info for the head replacement repair that was made to our 2016 CX-9. Mazda CX-5 and CX-9 Engine Coolant Leak Defect – Class Action Investigation | Sauder Schelkopf Attorneys at Law
Thank you for the NHTSA link. I'll be submitting a report shortly.Posted this over in EMANMAZDA's thread and thought I should add it here also.

Just adding my experience to keep this thread going. Have a 2018 CX-9 (2.5T) with 116,000 mi, car went into Mazda service today after smelling coolant in the garage for a few days. Inspection showed the cracked cylinder head. ~$8,000 repair cost, powertrain warranty expired at 80k.
I submitted the NHTSA report, and will probably sign on to the Sauder|Schelkopf class action investigation.
I'll reach out to Mazda NAO but won't hold my breath on that one.
While I certainly understand your feelings, it appears this is the only way that Mazda can be held to account for the extraordinarily expensive failure. The only people who get decent compensation on a class action lawsuit are the lawyers.
But this was Mazda's poor design. The head should never crack except maybe overheating from a cause within the owner's control. This was 100% Mazda's fault, just like the defective rear brake calipers that did not fully release when the parking brake was switched off. It was my cost to replace the calipers, rotors, and pads due to Mazda's poor design of the calipers. Mazda, and ever car maker, should stand behind their engineering. So she somehow thinks Mazda should have a full warranty at 126,000 miles. Unreal. Yes, this sucks, but tons of cars actually don't make it that far without major repairs.
They had me sign warranty paperwork they sent to Mazda when the job was complete, but my copy was a reduced form of that. Maybe I can get what they sent to Mazda, just wasn’t thinking to snap a picture of it when picking up the car after a long week.bTwix, do you have the data showing the parts charged to the job? If ATF and gear oil were used, they were charged to the job. You'll see that.
But you should receive an invoice with 0 balance showing all the parts used and labor for any warranty work after the work is done. They had me sign warranty paperwork they sent to Mazda when the job was complete, but my copy was a reduced form of that.
