CX-5 Sales continue to set records

#Disappointing..sorry 7 but it is..i do hope it improves..we may get one.

CX-3 fills a market spot hence its existence regardless of it being good or bad

Definitely fills a niche The cx-3 looks good. I'll give it that.

Fully loaded AWD GT is $29K probably get out the door at $27.5 or $28. I'm sure more then a few 3 sales have been lost to the 5.

Rightfully so..the 3 isn't bad but more motor, more room and much better range in my mind the 5 is a no brainer comparatively.

If I was to go for a CX-3 classed vehicle I would opt for a Mazda 3 AWD hatchback (if it were available in US)... nothing I would take off-road but good rig on compromised pavement surfaces with adequate cargo capacities.

No. CX-3 sales are bad because, frankly, the car sucks. And CX-9 sales are up and have been every month in 2017.

The seven-passenger Mazda CX-9 crossover SUV finished the month up 7.0 percent YOY, with 1,971 vehicles sold in the month of October.

Actually, the CX-3 is a great little car but not good for the US market. My son preferred it to the Mazda 3 but the cost is much higher and the space, much smaller.

I don't think you are sorry. If you're going to call me a liar maybe you should prove it instead of asking me to? But I will this one time.

January: The Mazda CX-9 posted an increase of 210.7 percent YOY, with 1,591 vehicles sold.
February: Sales of the Mazda CX-9 rose 368 percent YOY with 2,157 vehicles sold in the month of February.
March: Mazda CX-9 roared to an impressive March, recording 2,550 sales. With a 2079.5-percent YOY increase, this represents CX-9s best March since 2013.
April: The midsize, three-row Mazda CX-9 continues to build momentum, tallying 2,134 sales. This represents CX-9s best April since 2011 when it posted 2,750 sales. (Sold 71 in April 2016).
May: Sales of the seven-passenger Mazda CX-9 rose 221.8 percent YOY with 1,982 vehicles sold in the month of May.
June: Sales were down 10% (This was the worst month in the auto industry when only 2 or 3 automakers posted gains).
July: The three-row Mazda CX-9 finished the month up 3.3 percent YOY, with 2,318 vehicles sold.
August: Down 3.3%
September: Sales of the seven-passenger Mazda CX-9 rose 0.9 percent YOY with 1,850 vehicles sold in the month of September.
October: The seven-passenger Mazda CX-9 crossover SUV finished the month up 7.0 percent YOY, with 1,971 vehicles sold in the month of October.

OK. OK. You were right. I was wrong. I will amend my statement. Something tells me you were expecting far worse Yrwei.

Amended statement:
Mazda had a pretty ******* impressive year with the CX-9. In 8 out of 10 months in 2017, the CX-9 had gains including March with a mind blowing 2,080% increase over the previous March.

The CX-9 is a winner, there's simply no denying it.

I will certainly agree the numbers aren't s***. We know that. Are you new here? Honda sells more Pilots in a day then Mazda sells CX-5's in a month. Mazda isn't going to get Honda type numbers in the US overnight (or ever I'm sure). That's still over 60 MILLION in sales on one car for one month.

Here are the sales figures for CX-9 for the last 2 years up to October 2017 with month-over-month (MoM) and year-over-year (YoY) percent changes:

Keep in mind that the new 2nd-gen CX-9 started to reach US Mazda dealers a week before the Memorial Day of 2016, hence the sales figures started picking up in May and significantly in June, 2016. Like Red MC said, the 1st-gen CX-9 had been in US market for almost 10 years at the time and Mazda didn't even take any orders from dealers for many months and that's why the sales figures were so low before the new CX-9 coming out.

Here're yearly sales figures in the US on Mazda CX-9 since its debut in late 2006:

US Sales

200826,100

201616,051

As we can see, this year the 2nd-gen CX-9 may not even break the volume of the very first full year sales of the 1st-gen CX-9 in 2007, not to mention the segment of 3-row mid-sized CUV has been expanding significantly since then!

What speaks to me is crv vs cx5 is ~3:1 yet Highlander vs cx9 ~10:1! The 9 is a winner but its not really winning..is it?
Yea. It is. People are discovering it. 2017 was it's best year ever. If 2017 was a bad year, I'd agree. 3 years ago it was probably 15-1 vs Highlander.
Let's see what 2018 brings.
Again your claim is false and please see yearly sales figures I posted above on CX-9. We haven't even consider the expanding market on 3-row mid-sized CUV!

The 2nd-gen CX-9 sales are very disappointing and it can't even out-sell its previous-gen in volumn during the first year!

According to your chart, 2011 was the best year for the CX-9, not 2017 so not sure why people are saying it was the best year ever.

And if one looks at the chart, one should note the sales of the CX-9 should be WAY higher than the previous years due to the rapid growth of the SUV market from 2007-current.

I bought a 2018 Mazda 3 in October.

Sedan or hatch? Do u like it?
I have seen a base M3 hatch and a Touring M3 Hatch and a 3 sedan in my area. They look good. If the practicality of the 3 hatch is nice - its worth considering for avg. sized families of 3.

Good commuter sedan with 30+ mpg and cheap to run but enough cargo for odd IKEA runs. etc.

I bought a sedan for my son in highschool.
If you need cargo space, a hatchback would be a better option.
I paid $21000 + tax for a touring trim. The gun metal color 18" wheels look very nice.

Nice. Does Touring have power seats? How's rear leg room?

CX-3's are all over Europe. I see a lot more there than the CX-5

We bought the hatchback for our high school son. Great car for that age and profile. We got the 2017 Touring for $20,500+ tax.
