I don't know about that... I've runa mill that was throwing chunks of alluminum so damned fast.. of course I don't know how fast the O->Al chemical reaction is taking place, but whatever.
and yes Aluminum can't "rust" because rust is Iron Oxide, or FeO2. Certainly ceramic coating would be ideal for your application, but I certainly understand the monitary aspects of it
