custom fmic what ya think?

aluminum doesnt rust, when it becomes in contact with air, it forms a layer of aluminum oxide which protects it from rusting (the top of the metal is already oxidized).. none of us have ever seen the element Al

I don't know about that... I've runa mill that was throwing chunks of alluminum so damned fast.. of course I don't know how fast the O->Al chemical reaction is taking place, but whatever.

and yes Aluminum can't "rust" because rust is Iron Oxide, or FeO2. Certainly ceramic coating would be ideal for your application, but I certainly understand the monitary aspects of it :)

looks good though!

hey byohndspeed,

i re-read the thread twice and .....no one has asked how much of a difference you felt with this set-up?

and have you driven another MSP w/ a FMIC kit (pre-feb kit) that you could compare it to?

My friend and I custom made my FMIC. We utilized a 450hp intercooler core and end tanks from Turbo XS, turbonetics hoses, t-bolt clamps, greddy type S bov, and custom mandel bent pipes from a shop here. VEGAS MSP and a few other members on this board have seen it at a MAZDA meet we had last month. If you go to racingextreme.com you'll see it.

My friend and I found a way to vent bov (not recirc) without having the problem stalling. If you look at the pic at racingextreme.com you'll see that the location of my MAF is located differently from everyone elses. I have the MAF hooked up to the throttle body pipe. The car runs real good. Vegas MSP even took it for a test drive. But yeah your setup looks real good. I like the idea of heat wrap.

well honestly i havent drove anyone elss with a fmic on it. also after i put it on i took my mbc off.so i have nothing to compare it to.and can say that the charge pipe going to the tb is cold..and it runs darn good without the mbc.but im putting it back on in a few hours after work.

BLUR, if you could post an FAQ on how you setup your BOV (and what you did with the stock BPV) and avoided stalling and turkey, that would be great, stalling seems to be a prob w/o the turkey
