Corrugated EGR tubing?

thats allowing un-metered air in, leaning out your motor when the egr is open i'm thinking connecting it back to the intake after the MAF would cause less problems since you're only letting in air that is metered. i might give that a shot when i get back home. can't wait.

If the air was coming from the exhaust as stock, how is it metered anyway?

Not that it matters, my car will run without a MAF at all...

It's not, but it has fuel in it.

Letting clean air into the motor that is unmetered will lean it out. If you allowed metered air into the EGR, it would behave.

Disagree. In closed loop (which you are in 90% of the time) the car tunes off the primary O2 sensor's reading. AFRs will nto be changed regardless of what type of air is being let in. You guys are overthinking this concept. Engineer in your spare time? :D

No, first hand experience. When I ran an open air EGR, the car leaned out big time. The O2 only has so much influence.

Keep the EGR pipe hooked to your intake mani, and cut it short so that there's only about 9" of pipe. Stick a breather filter on the end, and your CEL is gone. THat's what I did. Worked liek a charm for months. You can see here my breather filter that I put on it, just under the water neck.

Any gain to this? or just a preference thing?

Preference thing.

Removing your EGR is a bad thing. Only do it if you have to.

I had to replace my EGR tube with another stock one.

Not fun esp. the part near the throttle body. What a PITA. It's a 25mm in a not too spacious location! I had to stand in the engine bay and crank on my cresent wrench!

Anyone try the corrugated for more than 500 mi? Tekkie told me that's all he had his on for.

So has anyone confirmed if this SS corrugated tubing holds up?? Also how does the tubing connect to the connectors?? Also to get this straight the side that connects to the IM is 5/8" and the side that connects to the headers are 1/2". Is this correct??

Is this correct?

i went to lowes and couldnt find a gas/dryer ss line or any of the fittings i would need. i did see tho ss faucet lines...dunno if there the same thing, but then again i seen no fittings anyway

They have them for sure at Home Depot, thats where I got mine and it fit perfect. This is a good mod to do if your putting on headers or removing the intake manifold, it makes it way easier to remove them.

Also I have had mine on for probably over 4,000 miles now and it still looks and works great. It does change color because of the heat but thats about it

man this is wha i been wantin to do, but sum ppl told me its not a good idea, so i been unsure... plus i'm a rookie so eh, but if doin this will lean it out isn't that better seeing how our cars run rich as it is (or am i wrong)... either way i'm gonna give this a try, if there are any problems i'll just go to home dep and buy the gas/dryer pipin and reconect IM to header...

Ya man I ran like that (and still am, albeit my EGR is completely disconnected) and no problems at all. I have standalone so I can remove my EGR, but if you disconnect it completely you wil lget a CEL.

it didn't work for me...that's why i have a cel...

well hopefully next week i'm try wat you did, and cut it short and stick a breather filter on the end, if that dont work i'll just go to home dep

the gas lines are fire rated up to whatever degree so they cant melt when there is a fire in a house. there should be some kind of rating on the sticker attached to it. I thought about this but I will likely use copper tubing so it looks a bit better.

i just went to home depot to do this mod. the kit i bought is a water heater kit. both ends are 1/2" and all i need to do now is get a female 1/2" w/ a 5/8" male end fitting to connect to intake mani correct?

just did this mod! pretty simple, only pita was connecting fitting and hose to intake manifold b/c of the coolant lines but i got it!

I'll be doing this very soon... Just waiting on fuel rail o-rings and other asscociated injector gaskets
