I did search but found nothin...sorry

So thanks to my taxes I'll be getting some extra cash.
& wanted to know what you guys thought was better.

Corksport Downpipe @ $349.95
Corksport test pipe @ $150.00

or Cp-e Downpipe @ $544.05 from S.Unit?

if you have dynos from ether one it would be great.

I think I'll keep my cbe stock for now.
I'll also be getting A cobb SRI & Forge BPV but can't decide on the downpipe part, thanks for your help.

cp-e makes a quality unit, but maybe so does corksport.. i just cut out my 3 resiantors.. i heard when you start messing with down-test pipes here comes the blue smoke...

The blue smoke only comes if you already have a problem with your turbo's seals. The exhaust system changes just let you see the problem, they don't cause it.
I'm saving my pennies for a downpipe with a high flow cat.

That's sweet the price droping like that(spank)

But what's better to have a Cp-e downpipe which I have heard of good things or the corksport which I heard nothing about....anyone?

what do you need to know. looks good, quality welds, makes good power. Seems like simple math to me. I bought the corksport!

Ya rly it's like 850 shipped from CS direct for their turboback..wow. I was thinking of getting the cobb, but this is making me take a look at theirs. Cobbs will rpboably be like 1150-1250 or more

It's my understanding that the increased flow causes the problem. The seals "float" with the flow of the stock exhaust. Once you increase the flow they burn on the housing itself.

I am by no means an expert, but I recall reading that somewhere.

I'm not an expert either. I saw that theorized, and the guys who can call themselves experts shot it down.
The final nail in the exhaust theory is that someone found out (I wish I remember who) that Mazda was made aware of turbos with bad seals by their supplier, who got the bad seals from their supplier.
Problem is that no one can find out exactly what manufacture dates would be most likely to have the bad seals.

I've got a DP and no smoke (knocking on wood)... A few other members have DPs with no smoke. Its a hit or miss.

Midlife, you are correct, Hitachi-Warner had a bad batch of turbos with defective seals; Mazda is aware of this. No tractability though on Mazda's part. Its a first come first serve basis...

Regarding on deciding which DP...

If you are not concerned with having a cat, then I would go with Cork Sport. They have the divorced gases design which yields slightly more power, plus install will be easier than CP-E which is a one piece DP and test/mid pipe. The only advantage to CP-E design is the flex joint they included due to the engine movement with the stock engine mount; relieves the stress the welds might see under acceleration.

I wanted the Cork Sport DP so bad due to the divorced gases design...but they did not offer a cat...so I went with CP-E.

You'll be very happy with CP-E. Quality is top notch. Cork Sport is the same, you'll be happy with either...

No cat = CS
Cat = CP-E

Just my .02 cents... (2thumbs)

What does that cat do?
If its for emissions, then I don't care I live in Cali & anything you do to your car is illegal. So I might as well go all the way(butt)

yes the cat is to make your car's emissions safe. i have the full corksport exhaust (tbe) and love it. great power but ur gonna have to do a few things like the rest of us with downpipe's installed. sure not everyone is getting the same things but it usually results in either boost cut, fuel cut, or spark blowout. this can happen with either companies, cp-e or cs, against it just comes down to what u prefer, a cat or no cat. since ive installed the full exhaust from corksport ive gotten nothing but compliments on it, great sound and thing hauls. warning, u may need new tires..

What does that cat do?

I bought the catted DP due to the advice of several vendors (PG, CP-E, CS, and SU). According to vendors and a few members, a lot of people that bought the non-catted DPs, 5-6 months later come back wanting a cat in their exhaust do to heavy fumes coming out of the exhaust and the interior of the car absorbing the smells.

I used to have a non-catted Miata and the fumes were bad!!! So I promised myself that next time I mod an exhaust, I would go with a high-flow cat... Just personal preference; no emissions law out here.

I've smelled a CS DP and mid-pipe combo, and I would not have been able to deal with the fumes... That maybe cause I'm getting old and I want comfort in my rides...back in my 20s, I would have cared less... (lol2)

So the inside of my car will smell like exhaust fumes?

is this a real concern?

well the only time those things are really gona happen is in high rpm's mainly in 5th and 6th. before i did the standback it was affecting my speeds after 80mph, i had to shift to 5th to get to 100 which i normally waited to the end of 4th. so yea it does affect things a bit. there are quick fixes tho and colder spark plugs+ a map clamp (should be 70-100$ more) will fix the spark blow out and boost cut. as for fuel cut u shouldnt have to worry about a cdfp unless u wanna run more boost as thats the only time my car gets fuel cut, which is my next install along with a fmic. but yea u can do exhaust+spark plugs+map clamp and should be running fine as thats what ive helped a friend do and runs great. reason u need the map clamp is a better downpipe will usually spike ur boost a lil more and u might even hold another pound or 2 of boost.
