CorkSport Mazda 2 Short Ram Intake

Not a bad idea, but I guess that isn't entirely necessary. I'll probably do that bit later. I'm hoping to install my SRI tonight!

I should be getting mine tonight. That filter sits right up against the battery box eh? Not too big of a deal. Props on supplying such nice clamps!

The angle of the picture makes it look close. There is plenty of clearance between the filter and the battery.

Now that mine's installed I see that. This is a really nice quality piece. I've only driven the car for about 10 miles with it, but the most significant thing I've noticed is the increased throttle response. It feels closer to my cable-throttle miata now! The engine noise is increased on acceleration but not overbearing. It actually helps with rev matching and whatnot.

Positioning the temp sensor was the most awkward part of the install for me, but it wasn't bad. I didn't have to cut any of the tape from the MAF wires as there was plenty of slack. I'll get pics later.

This is exciting for me as throttle response is my biggest complaint with the 2. I've got to get this piece!

I haven't seen any full engine bay shots with this intake so here goes:

From another forum, somebody said this: "The Mazda2 ECU is mounted in the stock air intake and is actually cooled by the intake air. It probably doesn't matter that its getting hotter now, but there's a small chance that it might. I would at least put the original cold air duct back on, if it still fits. This will push a little cool air through the old intake, which may help keep the ECU comfortable."

Any comments from Corksport on this? I'm not too worried about it right now in the winter time, but is this something we should be concerned about?

I will speak with our engineer about this and see what he thinks. We have had the intake on the car through several really warm days without issue. I really dont think there will be a problem.

The mazda 2 which ran at thunderhill 25 hour race was running one of our intakes.

Just pulled the trigger on this yesterday! Should be shipping out today. Whoever I spoke with at Corksport on the phone yesterday was quite helpful! Thanks guys!

This intake also fits the 2008-2010 Mazda 2 with the 1.5 and 1.3 engines.

There is a MAP sensor on the intake manifold on the passenger side of the engine.

The MAP sensor connects via a hose directly to the intake plenum so it did not make building an intake difficult. It is similar in design to the Mazda 3 setup.

Just got my intake in the mail today! Installed it this afternoon with minimal difficulty, (I might have the two hoses on the temp. sensor reversed though... Hmm should go flip that...)

First impressions (only a 5 minute drive round the subdivision): Nice noise with the hood up. Definite engine note under load. Quite nice. Better throttle response, but I almost hve what feels like turbo lag, from like, 2k-3.5k then a bigger pull. Shifting into second grabs a bit harder and acceleration is more immediate now, esp when cornering and downshifting. Certainly a bit better throttle response, though still not what i'd like, but I suppose i'm asking a lot from a drive-by-wire car.

All in all, much nicer ride. I'll post pics and a better review when i've had a day or so to drive it round!

basically, how much HP will gain on a 1.5 AT hatch? how much will be the shipping to philippines? thanks.
