CorkSport Mazda 2 Front Sway Bar Now Available!

Got the rear on today and i'm loving it. Looking forward to getting the front on! hopefully weather holds out till the beginning of december so i can get it on before the winter.

After feeling the difference the rear torsion bar made I am certainly going to upgrade the front bar now. Once I get the 2 lower on either the Bilstein coils or a set of springs and Koni Sports I believe the 2 will be even more of a hoot to terrorize corners with.

My sway bar is coming in soon (I Hope!) A christmas gift from my parents. I've had the rear torsion bar on for months and it made a huge difference, so if the front sway bar adds even close to as much handling improvement i'll be happy!

Unfortunately i'm in winter mode here so I won't have the full effect until i get my summer tires back on. Still my snows are supposed to be high performance so it's better than nothing!

Finally got my front swaybar on today (hooray for 50 degrees in Boston in January!). Install is pretty much just as strightforward as the instructions say. Getting the bolts holding the stock swaybar brackets to break loose with what little space you have there takes some creativity, but even taking my time and thinking about the best way to tackle everything it was only about 2 hours from wheels up to wheels down.

Impressions: I love it! steering immediately feels more direct. body roll is definitely reduced. i haven't felt it without the rear on, but I can say the combo is exactly what I was looking for. It actually did more to make the car feel planted than i thought it would, so that's a bonus.

great job, Corksport!

Maxuz, I'm sure you've said it elsewhere, but are you running spring in conjunction with the bars, and if so what brand? Glad you like it, and the weather has been great... I hope we don't pay for it too much later this winter.

Currently stock springs. I really thought I was going to have to drop it ASAP, even with the bars, to get the suspension where I wanted it, but the bars did more than I thought they would toward that, so I think money is going toward an intake or exhaust before I circle back around for springs.

I will say that I had an endlink nut come loose the next day. it's a simple fix and i'm sure I just didn't torque it down enough when I was doing it, but when I had my speed3 with bars that same nut would also come loose, so if you're doing it, it might be worth investing in some lock-tite and just taking care of it then.

I'm still waiting on mine... Been a month and a half since CorkSport originally said it should have delivered. Was originally told the delay was materials supply issues, now it's 'refining fitment'...

Getting a little annoyed... And more than a little anxious. Sounds like a great upgrade, if only I could get it here....

on the flip side be sure not to overtorque the nut as you can potentially bind the suspension, which can damage the endlink or it's mounting points

good to know maybe ill be buying from somewhere else 6 weeks is inexcusable for delivery..ive shipped parts all over the world for years not just ebay it was my job..ive shipped parts to australia by boat/ship that didnt take 6 weeks..get your money back and buy from a supplier that has stock..let us know when it arrives or what happens in general

The delay on our Mazda 2 swaybar has been frusterating for us as well. When I have an update this week on the sways I will post up here.

I have received mine a well and I have to say it was worth the wait. Fantastic handling upgrade ESP combined with the rear torsion bar. Overall I was very impressed. CS ships them with urethane bushings also. Very solid product.

Much less body roll and front lean. On hard cornering the car digs a little better and seems to have less understear with both parts on. Much quicker response to steering inputs as well. That slight feeling like your wheels are on elastics is gone.

Did you still have understeer with the Rear Torsion Bar? I don't even want a front sway bar because the car rotates so damn perfectly now with my suspension setup.

Just installed mine last night and here are some thoughts regarding installation:

Everything except the subframe brace bolts is most easily accessed from the wheel wells with the wheels removed.

One of the energy suspension brackets wasn't angled quite sharp enough and I had to use a couple washers to prevent the bolt from hanging up against the bottom corner.

As evident from the 19mm bolt markings on the subframe, I noticed after tightening it back up that it was not in the same spot. Some fiddling with the bolts and nuts got it back in the approximate position. I think there is some potential to mess up alignment settings if not careful.

Everything went pretty smoothly overall, the included instructions were very helpful.

Got out on twisty mountain road (closed course with a professional driver) and was able to get a good feel for the new setup. Prior to adding the front swaybar I installed the torsion bar and racing beat springs. Here are my driving impressions:

The car finally feels composed and eager to trounce the pavement. Adding the front bar significantly reduced body roll, and I can feel the front tires holding on to the pavement where they previously would give up. Turn-in response is improved, and as a result of the added front grip, the car actually oversteers a tad. I think the added from grip is a result of less dynamic camber loss.

I am very satisfied with the way my car currently handles for the relatively mild suspension mods I've added (though I suppose stickier tires would be nice, the s-drives I just put on seem to give up quite a bit to the typical auto-x street tire) and can't wait to get out to the next auto-x event.

Did the oversteer surprise you at all? The first time I had the shop 2 on an autocross course with the front bar added I got caught out and spun the car from the oversteer the front bar added when combined with our rear torsion bar.
