cold air intake for 1999 protege dx (1.6l)

Sigh. Sounds oh so familiar. I eventually couldn't cope with the constant problems of rigging my own intake, so I searched and found the old Injen CAI. One piece tuned design. Fastest I've been.

I HAVE A GREEN AIR FILTER (LIKE A K&N) AND THIS VELOCITY STACK,PLUS A TORNADO.YOU WILL NOTICE A BIG DIFFERENCE FROM STOCK PLUS IT LOOKS GOOD IN THE ENGINE BAY.WITH A MODIFIED EXHAUST YOU CAN ADD XTRA HORSES.(BY THE WAY I HAVE 195,000 MILES ON THIS ENGINE.)BOUGHT IT NEW IN 99!

do you have an CEL or not on the car after you installed the Weapon R??

this is what i did to mine (but with k&N filter)..i have no hesitation,engine runs strong,i also add an OBX header and a BORLA muffler....since the car is running great,i am hesitant about getting a SRI, especially when people say that they have either CEL or hesitation.

i put in the INJEN CAI and the repositioning was very easy, i basically spun the container so that the pipe wouldn't hit it. it sounds great and was real easy.
 
I've tried all intake for the 1.6l, (injen, ebay, and custom). They all suck. My current set up is the stock intake system with a k&n drop in filter. It has better preformance and power then any of those intakes. With the any of those intake it feels like a lost of power.
 
not you, but xplicid protege with the weapon-r sri. ive got my weapon-r sri to work w/o problems but i dont have proof of any gains.
 
CAI gives less throtle response but more torque. a SRI just take in hot hood air. find on that puts the filter on the left side of the car near the coolant overflow.

thats becasue it is, you gain 8whp with k&n filter drop in and removing the resignator tubes .. than if you do cai and lose hp cause the maf is gay..

Yes the maf is gay, i always have to keep cleaning mine, if not it gets really dirty and the i get a CEL. I got the k&n drop in filter for like $10 on ebay cleaned and reoiled it and removed the resignator tube. Knew it was better, But i didn't know it was 8whp gain. (shocked)
