Cobb AP vs. CP-e Standback

umm, the second cat isnt monitored by an o2 sensor so there wouldnt be any info in the cars ecu about it not being there. you dont need a "good tuner" to pass without it. depends on your state and how they smog check cars though...cali you'd fail regardless for that i dont care who tuned the car.

he's talking about his RX-8=only one Cat

ok, so your saying FWD cant put down power? you then even say it yourself that with "grip" as in a good wheel/tire/susp setup and a good driver you CAN put it down. there are plenty of fast ass fwd cars that put it down on the streets and in the 1/4. that statement makes you look like a jackass.

(EDIT)

you know what...nevermind.

What he said...

Your right about Cali though. Anywhere that actually tests the emissions (sniffer) would be a problem. In IL they just chekc the OBDII to be sure that all the emissions systems are functional, and you don't have any CEL's.

LOL waste of time mr mazda and you already know that. I am very pleased with Cobb Products myself. I also like Cp-e and think they are a great company. Honestly come to think about it... Cobb and Cp-e are prabaly the 2 highest quality companies for the mazdaspeed platform..so its good vs good in my book....as for the fwd crap..my next car is prabaly gonna be either awd tuner or rwd muscle..so theres my opinion with power @ the front wheels...doesnt mean it cant be done or its not alot of fun still :)

I ran a 13.3 @ 107 today with my AP Stg2+Sf91v105 FMIC OTS map running 93 octane On Hankook v12 stock size street tires. Mods in sig.

put it this way, i saw someone the other day selling his standback WTIH plug and play for 500 shipped, so how good can something be that has depreciated over 50%.. and people still sell AP's used for 500 plus shipping all day long, and they are only 600 new.

lol yeah theres no way it can be good if people are selling it used for a good price or putting it at a price where they can sell it quickly. I guess from now on I will troll the for sale threads and anything thats expensive must be good

A lot of the stand back guys went AP when ATR software came out and are selling stand backs cheap. I bought my AP for $550 and could sale it tomorrow for $500.

Lol...........To put it fair..I myself have heard alot of great things about cp-e Sb...its just a matter of knowing how to use it...Maybe..and this is just me speculating..but people buy it and they dont know how to properly utilize it and then sell it..I could be wrong..As for me..Yes I run the Cobb Ap..so I do like it..I agree that the stock maps wont work with every car and theres quite a bit of people that need a custom tune..But thats where the AP is a great tool..and there are some very good tuners in this country..I happen to live near one of the best with Tim Baily..Hes worked with all kinds of systems besides Cobb and has tuned Thousands of cars..With Cobb he has tuned 500 whp sti's-evo's...He added like 100 whp to his personal Nissan GT-R with just intake-tune..using the Accessport..Im making almost 300 whp @17 psi with just a intake-ets ic-cobb dp..thats it for power mods..with very safe numbers..heck on my 14 psi granny driver map im making 274 whp. Thats good tuning using a good tuning device. I dont really think theres any room to stand on to say Cobb doesnt have a good platform going on...BUT at the same time theres prabaly alot of potential in the Cpe SB and like I said before I have heard some good things from that system..its Coke and Pepsi guys..just let it be and buy what you think is best..thats my 2cents.
