Cobb AP Discussion Thread

Yea, I'm knocking in both 93 and 91 maps running 94-ish octane fuel. I think it's what we can expect from those maps at this point.

I don't think they are official Cobb maps, but does Christian know how bad we're knocking using them?

all the maps on my site are maps from cobb. i just simply host them for them. christian sent me all those and most are probably work in progress.

And I know we all appreciate you hosting them. I just wasn't sure exactly what to call them since we get them from you instead of Cobb. I kind of viewed them as beta maps and expected that they were still working on them.

Does Christian need any data from us to help him fine tune these maps? I'll gladly log both the 91 and 93 Stage 2 +TIHSF TMIC maps if that helps him "knock out" the knock. (rlaugh)

I'll mention an update on mine too. I'm running the S2 TIHMSCAI v1.02 so far and have had very little knock. I see 0.4-0.7 for a second, but nothing substantial. Only once has the knock registered on the DH to be 5.6, but it immediately went back to 0 after. Fuel trims are leveling out nicely and the power is definitely there.

i switched to cobb's v102 93 and 91 maps, and have experienced knock in both, is it recomended that i switch back to a v101 mzdspd map instead? i have very minor mods to be pinging, although it is 90+ degrees out. i cant tell if its just the heat or not, i cant log until i get a solution to the dongle being in the way of the brake pedal.

I'm having a similar problem with the clutch pedal in my 8. This is what I am thinking of using. Sorry if it is a repost just trying to help. It took me a while to find, mostly because I didn't know what to look for.

I think the one pictured below would work pretty well for me at least.

Stage 2 TIHCPN +FMIC 93 is the one I was beta testing. Christian did 2 revisions before the new ATR was released. I havent heard anything back on continuing the testing. There isnt much power gained in 1st-3rd since he didnt do much to those tables yet but 4th gear PULLS. A lot less knock with that map as well. Will be switching back to that tomarrow with a slightly higher FFS setting.

i'm an idiot, my so called "knock" was a cracked peice of the air diverter going pop pop pop tick tick tick as soon as i broke 80mph, it broke off and saw it fly behind the car. nice, mazda. i have peaked at 5.4 KR on my most recent runs but it dissapeared instantly and was not during WOT. I'm getting up to 1.4kr at low rpm in 2nd when i'm turning a corner, only so often.

i tried the s2 tihsf v102 then switched to the s1tihsf v102 and couldnt notice a difference. other then my ltfts were really high with the s2 one. but other then that i couldnt notice a differnce in the power, should i be abel to?

Mine is set to 6mph. With that setting, it is low enough that it won't interrupt some very mild, momentary spin before the AWD couples in.

10-12 is acceptable, too. The thing you need to watch out for is that you don't cut the top of your rev range in first gear off by setting the number too high.

hey just thought i would let you guys kno that i ran the stage2 tihsf 93+ 103c map yesterday, and i was getting crazy knock. just cruising i would see 6.7 and it would stay for a few seconds. and lots of 0.4-0.7 under partial throttle

The .4-.7 at part throttle isn't worth worrying about. I don't think you're the first one to get knock that high with that map. E-mail a log to Christian and let him know what you're seeing, or PM Travis@Cobb on here and let them know, so they can get a fix out and note the issue.

okay cool. ill log it when i go back out. then ill just change back to the stage 2 tihsf 93+ 102 for the time being

Hey quick question, I been looking around and can't seem to find a definite answer - Is the Cobb AP compatible with Mac's

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VMware

It emulates an operating system that isn't really there. It's called "Virtual computing". It will allow you to run an instance of the Windows operating system on a Mac. Through that instance of Windows, you can open and use Windows-based software (like Cobb's stuff).

Although I'm not too fond of Macs, I believe you can use Boot Camp to emulate XP and get the same result.
