How long did it take? Did you put something protective on after, wax, or something?

I need to do it. Looks great!

I love clay bars. They work wonders on the clear coat. It takes me about 2 hours to clay bar and wax afterward, but the shine is well worth the work. Its amazing how much stuff the bar picks up off the clear coat.

basically u take a small bad of clay and lubricate an area on your car with something like a spray detailer, then rub the clay bar back and forth in that lubricated area. it takes all the rough spots on your car off and is absorbed into the clay. kind of like shaving your car lol.

go on youtube and look up "how to clay bar a car". It took me 2 hours to do every inch. I used a meguires clay bar with Eagle 1 quick detail. It worked amazing and im think im addicted =]

Anyone have any experience with the clay bar's ability to remove water marks? My P5 is littered with ancient year old water marks. I'd love to remove them, but they're very deep. I tried the clay bar, but each mark needed a lot of pressure and many brushes. Even then, fragments remained. I suppose I could work for days to remove the droplets. Will the clay bar damage the clearcoat at all? Won't the deep marks remove the very thin clear coat?

I would love to remove those awful watermarks.

These are hard water deposits, for instance from a sprinkler? To get those off most things around the house I use hot vinegar (microwaved to about 170 degrees F) and a soft toothbrush. That should be OK for the car windows, as long as you rinse with a lot of water, but it might not be so great to use that on the paint.

For a pretty good discussion about water spots and clay bars see:

in order to remove the water and swirl marks, u need to polish them.
i use porter cable dual polisher with meguiar's #80 and #83 after clay bar, then wax.

I just love how....
I spend hours makin my car pretty cuz mr. Weatherman who gets pain thousands of dollars to read off a screen says its gonna be sunny. WELL THE DARK CLOUDS, AND MOISTURE FALLING FROM THE SKY DIDNT HAVE ME RUNNING FOR MY BOARDSHORTS!

Yes my paint is nice and soft, but littered with water spots, and cat footprints? (i know wtf)

gottta love it!

i love Zaino clay bars, but i dont buy quick detail anymore too much money.
i fill up 1cap of Wash & Wax soap and then mix with like 16oz of water in the Windex bottle (empty of course) and use that as my lube, and then after im done i re rinse the whole car and then apply wax and stuff.
it works well if you dont want to keep buying those quick detail bottles. :D

thats exactly what i did, instead of using quick detail I did went with the extremely soapy water route. Afterwards when I washed it off with water I used the detailer to get the final finish

you save more money, and what ive heard or read was that if you wash your car with Dawn soap, it'll get rid of all the dirt and oil and such, after that you clay and then you do whatever and it'll be a better shine and feel.
ima try that next.
