Circuit's Protege5 Audio System Build

WTF is up with your clothes folded on the bed? I just showed that to my wife as I was laughing and said...."in the morning I want my work clothes on the edge of the bed like this". She only stared and walked away. She was probably thinking...."theres one more day you go without sex".

(hahaspit) HAHAHAHA. I had just finished laundry and had to work at 1:00 PM today. I live in an apartment building and the laundry room is on the floor above mine, so I have to fold my clothes so that it's easier to transport them back downstairs. That's just where they ended up as I was placing everything on my bed.

Installed my RPM shark-fin antenna with my sirius antenna under today (idea taken from jhotrod's install thread, THANKS!)

Cut out very small part of roof for sirius antenna to fit past AM/FM antenna (very scary)

Tightened back down AM/FM base

Pulling car out with Shark-fin placed over antenna to ensure reception

Sticking down Shark-fin (you can see the fractal AM/FM antenna on the inside of the shark-fin)

Success!

Making this my signature shot (cabpatch). Cleaning up the antenna wiring.

I'm sorry JL is not better than Eclipse. You fold.(screwy)

Tell that to every single compeditor and SQ sound organization that has far and away more compeditors and winners with JL then eclispe.

And from every test I did and every customer I ever had, JL was the better each and every time for amplifiers, speakers, and subwoofers.

damn dude. thats gonna be one KILLER system. id love to be able to do all that. but ill just have to stick with my little system lol
Power Acoustik NB.1 tweeters, Blaupunkt 6.5s in all the doors, and 2 12" M.A. audio subs in the trunk, power acoustik lt980 amp, power acoustik 1.5 farad cap (bout to get a tsunami 2.0 though), and all 4 gauge wiring.
ill definetly agree with you on the acoustics of the protege, great for subs. probably the best bass ive heard out of a hatch.

but to comment on the iPod deal, i use a 40GB iPod Video in my car through my pioneer deh-360mp HU. and the majority of my music is encoded at 128kbps and it sounds stellar, actually better than my cds. but then again i dont use an ipod controller, i use the aux input on the front of the radio with a 3.5mm line wire to the ipod, therefore i dont have to worry about the loudness issue because i still have full control of my ipod while its plugged in, plus i have a set volume for the protege that works out great, and if i ever want it a lil louder its not a problem. plus i have all the eq settings to work with as well.
granted its not as fancy or as clean looking as an ipod controller, but it does work great and does have its advantages.
btw: im basing my points of view off of the pioneer ipod controller which is just a sh*tbox.

The new pioneer ipod controller (just the CD-I200 cable) is actually awesome.

Update:

Decided last night that I am going to bi-amp the components with the XA4000 and go with Polk DB651's in the rear running off of the HU. Need to order the speakers soon since I put my 2 weeks notice in (at circuit city) yesterday.

Well I just ordered my SR6500's and DB651's. Also ordered a bulk pack of dynamat extreme (for free through a rewards program at work).

Definitely determined to get trunk layout finished this month.

Received my Dynamat bulk pack and Polk speakers this past week. Got a chance to hit up one rear door panel after work.

Ahh virgin door panel

Cleaned up the door panel (Had to take off the lip around the speaker grill for clearance)

Got some dynamat on the door panel too

I used about 2 sheets from the bulk pack on this door. Will do the same with the other door tomorrow, then start on the hatch area.

Got the other door done in the same fashion the other day and the hatch today. The hatch was a PITA because I broke a couple of the tabs. I forgot my camera, and do NOT want to pop that panel off again lol.

In the mean time, here are some pics unboxing the sexy SR6500's:

I can't wait to get them in. So much more work before I can fully enjoy them. I may be able to get a SCREAMIN' deal on a couple more sets, so they may be for sale on here in a while.

Dynamat'ed the hatch floor today. Used about 4 sheets. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic.
