Circuit's Protege5 Audio System Build

Here's a pic of my Optima Red Top and the Big 3 Wiring.

Ordered the rest of my Monster 1/0 and 4 gauge wiring yesterday, along with my second XA1000 and Eclipse Sirius tuner. Hopefully I will get the Sirius tuner and the MSP pocket I purchased on here next week so that I can at least get my HU, iPod adapter, and said Sirius tuner in.

If your worried about the MDF swelling and warping you can put a layer of fiberglass resin on it, seal it up.

Why did you get the Red Top and Not the Yellow Top? Isn't the Red top a "starting" and the yellow top a "deep cycle" battery?

I honestly don't plan to run the car for long periods of time with it off, therefore no need for a deep cycle battery. The red also matches with my strut tower bar, and eventually my valve cover and intake.

Edit: It was also one of the few things salvageable from my Eclipse and I had purchased it maybe 2 weeks before the accident.

Update:

Received second XA1000 and Eclipse Sirius Tuner yesterday
Received alarm + window mod + glass sensor today
Waiting on Monster power wires and MSP pocket.

All that is left to purchase are the speakers, sound deadening, and panel mount terminals for RCA's and USB.

Alarm stuff will be installed Tuesday. HU, Sirius Tuner, and iPod controller will be installed Wednesday or Thursday.

Sirius Tuner + iPod control box mounted yesterday!
Alarm + Remote Start installed today!
MSP Pocket and more Monster Cable received today!

Window mod and HU will be installed tomorrow. Pictures will be posted. Woot!

HU installed today! Here are some pics!

Having fun with LED's and A-Pillars. Yes all that spaghetti is gone lol.

There's the sirius tuner hiding under the center console. (Yes I know there is a bunch of crap in my passenger side footwell, it will be gone after my weekly car cleaning tomorrow.)

not too shabby... thats where i hid my sirus tuner :D you need to do something about that shift knob though

Yes I know. I want to save up for the TMW SS and knob, but I need to make sure it won't void my extended warranty, or at least is easy to swap out lol.

Ran 1/0 GA Power wire (driver's side, into fender well and through factory grommet), and RCA's (passenger) the other day.

Found a car with close the the same setup that I want in the trunk. Going to use it as a guide. It is the Buick Lucerne CXX with all Eclipse gear built by Rick Bottom Customs.

Eclipse XA1000 x3
Eclipse XA2000 x2

My setup:

I've shifted my interest away from car stereo recently, but this thread invokes those feelings of "gotta-sound-good-or-else" that emptied my pocketbook a couple times. Next time you are in Alaska, swing by so I can hear it.

Haha thank the car audio gods I work for Circuit City or there is no way I would be able to legally afford all of this stuff. Vendor Accommodations FTW!

If I ever get up the crazy idea to drive up to alaska I will definitely shoot you a PM before hand and you can hear it.

At one point I had a pretty good system in a '99 Monte Carlo, I had maxed out my credit card to do it. Never again (the Wife would kill me)

Could the reason you are using Eclipse equipment because of your late Eclipse?

Hehe that was a nice little coincidence. I had most of that equipment in the Eclipse and was able to pull it out after the accident. The P5's system will definitely be an upgrade though, since I will have 1 more amp/sub, way more sound deadening, and much better speakers (had Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1's in the Eclipse).

AND.. in my experience a P5 has really good acoustics, at least compared to my Monte.

Got the last of my Monster wiring in yesterday. (cabpatch)

Got bored and pulled everything out of my closet and took some pics. All I am saving for now are the Polk SR's/MMC's, RAAMmat, and Ensolite/carpet padding.

Build is going to go really slow now that school has started. I'll probably save up and buy the speakers, sound deadening, etc. come the holiday season (with the extra money from holiday hours), then take a few days off after new years to get everything in.

Hey hey hey this is not a battle. I was just needed something to update this thread. Can't wait till I get a chance to get those speakers though.
