P203E DTC on 2019 CX-5 2.2 Diesel

Hi all.

I’ve recently started to get erratic adblue quantity display on the dashboard (i.e dashes instead of an actual adblue percentage) and also a CEL - which is caused by a P203E code in the SCR module. Although I can cleared the code, it inevitably returns after a couple of days.

Since the wiring to the adblue tank looks fine, from my research, I’m guessing this is a case of crystals on the sensor in the tank.

Has anyone had any luck with flushing out the adblue tank with warm distilled water?

Alternatively, can I get the adblue level sensing coded out ?

Grateful for your ideas guys…

Regards

Andy

Hello Andy 👋

I don't know what part of the world you call home. Have you thought of a product such as ...

Diesel Exhaust Fluid Products | Rislone

Before going to the trouble of disassembly of the DEF system for distilled water. Might be worth a shot.

We have about 110,000 miles on our 2019 2.2 diesel and so far, no issues with crystalization of DEF. It only goes through it so slowly, I typically keep a lower quantity in the tank. Run it down to about 10% remaining and typically just add 1 gallon of fresh DEF just before winter.

If I were in your shoes, I think I'd try a product like the Rislone and continue to reset the code for a couple of weeks to see if it clears itself up.
