Hey,

My check engine light just popped on, no obvious problems, any idea what may be causing it? Car has 32k on it, gonna be doing spark plugs soon, and i just got my ECU flash done about a month ago.

thanks

could literally be (almost) anything. buy an OBD][ reader (which is useful for times like this) or better yet take it to Autozone or Advance and get them to read the code for you.

in my experience (not with msp), this has turned out to be something engine related, such as a lean condition. only way to know is to read it off.

dang after re-reading this, you're still under warranty. why not just take it to the dealer and have them perform whatever service? also, is the spark plug replacement interval on MSP's 32k?!?! Even on my (reliable) pos corolla it's 90k

did you check the gas cap? Its happened to me before. It will take afew minutes to clear if its loose.

well i've heard a ton of people changing them around 30k, plus the dealer wanted to do it at 30k.

Autozone will read me the code for free? Will they be able to tell me what the code means?

if he can't, send it to me and I will tell you what's it. I have the workshop manual.

i changed my MSP plugs at 40k. They didnt look too bad, but it didn't hurt and car drove smoother, upped the gas milage a bit also, so im not complaining.

Yeah, I believe they are one of the places that will read it for free. The codes are all standardized and you can find a list of them online, I believe. I think they are the same for all vehicles.

Anyway, you're under warranty right? why not just get mazda to read the code and then perform the service (if necessary) all in one go?
